Thank G-D. I got scared when I saw the supposed "210W Slim Adapter" meant for the Precision M6600. I understand the unique power requirements, but the 210W/240W slim adapter is dangerously large.

Can someone please post a HD image of their IPS Panel?

If it helps anyone out there, here are stats for the Intel 510 120GB and OCZ Vertex 3 120GB. Also included stats for a Intel G2 120GB in case anyone is thinking about upgrading.

I use the machine for Java Development. I have not noticed any significant performance difference between the Intel 510 and OCZ Vertex 3. Given this, I will be sending the OCZ back or selling it.

    Java Development Stats
Here are some stats that may help developers decide if the upgrade is worthwhile. Included are timings for a couple develoment tasks on a M4600 with either the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB or Intel 510 120GB. I also included stats for a M4500 with the Intel G2 120GB SSD. (machine I am upgrading from)

    M4600 - 2920XM/8GB/Win7x64/JDK 1.6.0_23/Maven 3.0.3/GWT 2.20
    M4500 - 940XM/8GB/Win7x64/JDK 1.6.0_23/Maven 3.0.3/GWT 2.20 (NOTE: Not a recent Win7 install/SSD is at 88% capacity)

    Tomcat 7.0.12 startup (7 webapps)
    M4600 OCZ Vertex 3 120GB - 17s
    M4600 Intel 510 120GB - 17s
    M4500 Intel G2 120GB - 38s

    Maven 3 Build (6 sub modules - 2 GWT/2 REST/2 DTO)
    M4600 OCZ Vertex 3 120GB - 1m30s
    M4600 Intel 510 SATA3 120 GB - 1m38s

You can disable NVIDIA in BIOS. You can not disable Intel. Can only do 2 external. Intel limitation.

I can definately tell you Optimus does work. Can't push external monitors without it.

My DVD writer is a run of the mill GS30N that appears to be used in a lot of other notebook brands.
As there seems to be pretty much only 3 types of mSata and one at 128GB, it's a pretty safe bet that it's the Samsung PM800, will check the USB charging a bit later to see what the story is

    Thanks Joe.

I'm quite disappointed by those numbers, I've just ordered one of these because I couldn't buy the [presumably]Samsung that comes on a preconfigured model, if newmodeus makes a 2.5" HDD caddy to replace the optical drive, I'll ditch the mSata and go for a full sata III SSD.

Thanks for posting the results though Philip

Have you tried contacting dell business to see if you can purchase the msata drive directly since youve also purchased your laptop?

Doesn't seem to have any option to enable it in the BIOS like the earlier models, not that it actually worked before with any of my WM or android devices anyway.

I wanted to order it with the notebook, but wasn't able to in the asia pacific region, also couldn't get the Firepro [not that I wanted it], IPS, RAID enabled motherboard, I did actually point out to my rep, that they should remove configuration options that don't exist here, just had a look now, it's still there, and the configurator still craps itself when you select the minicard ssd
Mind you, the intel 310 is half the price of the 128GB dell option, 80GB is a bit small is all, especially with a big fatso like windows 7
