depends on what you're using it for. professional applications tend to do better with the nvidia's, but gaming the AMD wins

there dosent seem to be a shortcut to turn off battery charging like on the M4400. Hmm. That was a nice feature. I really wonder why there is no tie for the power adaptor, all my dell's since 2003 had them :(

Nothing personal but I am honestly curious as to why would you want to turn off battery charging?

if you're using it mostly as a desktop replacement, the optimal charge to keep the battery at is 40% to extend its lifespan. of course you could just remove the battery, but especially on the M4600 the rubber foot is on the battery.

lenovo also has a similar feature to set the battery thresholds, so you can set it to only charge to 40%.

    Hi,

I've just received my M4600 as a replacement for my M4000.
The main reason for this replacement is the fact that the M4600 can support more than 2 screens. (currently I have 3x Samsung 24" screens for development)

I've got 2 DVI and 2 DP ports and a VGA connector on my E docking station which leads me to believe I can indeed use 5 screens, but unfortunally it seems the DVI and DP are linked, can't use a DVI and DP (same group) at the same time. (vga works with a dvi and /or dp)

If I plug in a DP connection to the laptop (side port of the laptop) it works and I have 3 screens (2x DVI and 1x DP), but I would rather have this working from my docking station. (the vga with 2x dvi or 2x dp works, but the screen quality is noticable, so I would rather/like to use digital outputs)

Am I doing something wrong here, or is my dockingstation to old (2 or 3 years old).

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Here's my results. I think your CPU is faster, but I have more RAM. Not sure how much that effects the benchmarks. I made sure to use the same settings as you.

    Hi,

May I know, for the current M4600 (with the i5 Sandy Bridge), what's the difference between the 60Wh 6-cell and 87Wh 9-cell battery in terms of outlook? What I mean is, I'm pretty sure the 6cell will be flushed with all sides, but will the 9cell protrude out from anywhere? I can only find photos showing the bottom side with the panel removed and looks like the battery compartment is at the bottom surface and not at the rear, hence I'm suspecting it could be flushed too. I'm using the M4400 with the 90Wh which protrudes out from the rear. Didn't really like it. If there is any protrusion, would appreciate if can show some photos :) Thanks!

I've got the 9-cell battery option and I can tell you it does not stick out on my machine. The battery is mounted differently than the M4400 which prevents it from sticking out.

(The fact that the 9-cell battery on the M4400 did stick out annoyed me very much and I'm happy it now does NOT stick out anymore).
