wish i could upgrade rigjt now but i only had a 2gb stick lying around there and both are running at 1600mhz and having the same specs, and getting 4gb dual channel at 1600mhz is cheaper that getting 8gb dual chanel

I have a weird problem, i got mine for less than 120 bucks and the specs are the following:
    i5 2520m
    4 GB DDR3L
    Firepro M5950
    FULL HD matte screen
65w battery on moderate health, it sucks just give me about an 1 hour
And it came with a 90w charger, which depending on where is plugged battery charging varies.

I have a San Disk 128gb half SATA SSD 6GB/s as boot drive and a Samsung Spinpoint 640 GB on the Fixed bay as storage device and added another 2 GB of RAM

The issue i have seen is that the cpu never goes to turbo, it just stays at 2.48 ghz at max, even on battery if i select performance instead of balanced or battery saver it stays at 2.48, i tried programs that i know that can push the cpu at turbo but it stays at 2.48 ghz and full load. And even reinstalled Windows 10 a lot of times but keeps that weird stuff with the cpu.

If i go to BIOS and select Intel Speedtep it stays at an abismal 0.61 ghz no matter again on battery or plugged, so i ordered a 130w charger original from a AlienWare i guess, it has the blue ring on the power jack, and still the same speeds... Of course i go to the BIOS again and the option of warning about power supply is not selected.

And another weird thing is that on Windows properties it says Intel Core i5 2520m 2.5ghz but next to it says 2.49 ghz, same goes on task manager, I have an Xeon on my desktop and it says 3.30 ghz 3.30 ghz same goes with my tablet with 2467m 1.60 ghz 1.60 ghz, and i installed CPU Z and the Core speed stays permanent on 2594 mhz doesn't change.

Other than that the laptop works fine but it's weird that behaviour, and i am worried because i ordered an i7 2760qm and i don't want to buy that big 180w charger lol

Just to confirm the AMD FirePro S4000x works but... seems that i doesn't work with the mate panel, may it work with the IPS? because i installed on mine and i didn't have screen, weird part is that my VGA didn't work but the Display Port works so i guess HDMI too, it will be displayed as the M5100 with normal drivers, i just use Driver Booster and it displayed R9 M200X and as usual on BIOS it will say unknow VGA card, issue was the fan didn't work properly, tried to play The Evil Within but as soon it was loading the screen to play it just shut off

    Hey guys,
Do you guys think Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 laptop ram will work on M4600?
It looks like a discontinued series from Crucial. Its spec is almost identical to the current DDR3 ram models.

Are you guys sure 1866MHZ RAM sticks don't work on M4600?
Crucial websites list 1866 sticks work on M4600..
    www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Dell/precision-m4600

It would be ideal to have four 1866mhz ballistix sport DDR3 4GB rams.

Those likely won't work at 1866MHz, but i see no reason why they wouldn't work at... however fast the memory controller in the CPU can run them. I seem to recall reading (in the M4600 GPU upgrade thread, i think) something about 1333MHz being some sort of "hard" limit in Sandy Bridge?

Yeah, that's debatable because Crucial website says their 1866MHZ ram sticks work on M4600.
No one has tried this yet so nothing is confirmed.

How about four 4GB Ballistix Sport ram sticks on m4600?
Have you seen any case of this ram stick working on m4600? I just got a good offer. I can buy four 4GB ballistix sticks for only $65 from a local guy.

    You're right..
Crucial responded to me those Ballistix Sport sticks may not work on M4600.
"The system may not support XMP settings, may have a much tighter fit, the modules may not report in a way the system likes, there can be many reasons as to why the units would not work." is a quote from crucial tech support.

also 1866MHz Crucial regular ram sticks will work on M4600 but it will run at 1600MHz max so there's no point in buying 1866MHz sticks for M4600.
    Buy four 4GB 1600MHz sticks....

If he's local, you might as well take your laptop along and test them on the spot (in the bottom slots only, obviously - easiest to access).
