Yeah, I may give it a try although that seller doesn't live too close.

It's a weird response from Crucial because Ballistix is using CL9 spec which is suggested by Dell for M4600.

folks, i need help... I have this laptop but i am getting tired for the weird issues i have, first at all to be short in history, i was seeing that the CPU it came, an i5 2540m never reaches turbo, seeing that i google it and i found it could be the Intel SpeedStep that was activated on the BIOS, i disabled it and was the same. Then seeing it could be the adapter it cames with, a 90w charger i bought an Alienware 130w and still never reaches turbo.

I decided to buy an 2760qm to see what was going to happen, and surprise it was equal turbo was not working too, again went to BIOS settings and if i disable it just got a speed of 2.40 ghz no matter what i used, Photoshop or even Camtasia that pushes turbo to a high speed, never did too. If i enabled SpeedStep it was worst it just got speeds at 0.96 ghz, then seeing this appears to be again the AC adapter was the issue, but also in battery mode was the same thing, so i decided to get the 180w adapter, for me weird that a laptop requires such a big adapter to works fine, even with the Firepro M5950 it cames just requires a 35w i think. Also i changed that to the M5100 and nothing, if i disable SpeedSep it goes again to 2.40 ghz no matter what i do, if i don't disable it, it just reaches 1.79 ghz and just in some scenarios it reaches turbo. But i have to reboot a couple of times to see it. And for example installing the AMD drivers it reaches 3.0 ghz or more.

I don't know if i have a deffective motherboard or what, worst i now i see that it doesn't resume from a sleep state...

Have you tried using ThrottleStop? Or actually, what have you been using, to monitor the CPU clocks?

No i haven't heard about ThrottleStop until now, i have been cheking with the task manager of Windows 10 and even i installed MSI afterburner to check the only game i have installed for now, Metro 2033 Redux, it clocks at 1789 mhz and around 30-45 FPS at high deatails and FHD, i have not seeing a laggy system, well just a weird slow mousepad sometimes. But other than that also it doesn't wake from sleep too... it goes hibernate but doesn't wake up. I have to turn on manually. I am thinking seriously in change the motherboard or sell this laptop.

M4600 needs a 180W PSU in order to avoid throttling.

Lol that's a great way to get help.

Last time I used windows to tell me cpu frequency was never. Would underreport any frequency I set. Use cpuz or throttlestop

As i stated i have been using MSI afterburner, cpuz it locks at 1789 mhz with IntelSpeedStep or 2394 mhz without it and never goes more than that, and now throttlestop is the same, besides throttlestop just locks at 1795 mhz

Turbo enabled, hypertreading enabled, does c states affects?
Dell fast charging. Even if i restore default the only thing i see is affected is the raid mode goes as default mode as hard drive boot option

You gave me 2 out of 6 items :/ not a great start.

I have no issues with turbo, I was curious about the difference between BIOS settings I can sustain my 4 core turbo of 2.8Ghz all day no problems.

    Well updates:

I have noticed that i have to reboot the laptop to get working the turbo boost???
Still i have the issue that it doesn't wake from sleep, i can see the power and the light of the battery are "breathing" but as soon i press power it shuts off same if i open or close the lid, may be during the process of putting the FirePro M5100 i did something wrong, i will check in this week i am off, and seems to sometimes it wakes or turn itself because battery light is again "breathing" and it's hot below.

Finally i got the fingerprint working after almost 4 months having it, it never worked till this week that by it's own it was popping something about Dell vault stuff, so i downloaded it and rebooted it and i could see Windows Hello.

Again i got only working the turbo boost with SpeedStep checked??? without check mark it just runs at 2.39 Ghz... no matter what i do or i reboot it.

Interesting part is that i can not install the "official driver" of AMD for m5100 Dell as is listed at the page, i noticed that even with the old M5950, i downloaded the driver but it nevers install. Now i just did a benchmark and the card is recognized as AMD FirePro R9 M370X and gpuz shows it as simple AMD Radeon M200X, and it is listed at the task bar as configuration of Radeon Pro and AMD FirePro???

Also i am getting a feel of a lazy trackpad, sometimes seems to be laggy.

Still thinking on changing the motherboard i think it is defective or "crazy" lol but i am having such a hard time to get it working properly, perhaps i was thinking on get the M4700 motherboard seems it could fit but the connector for the screen seems to be different... also is dirty cheap on ebay but risking it to may be, may be build a future M4700 is not a big deal i guess.

It surprised me my benchmark not the best but also not the worst
