    M4600 IPS premiercolor owners ..

Could someone verify if the Panel pulses or flickers at a high rate - PWM (Pulse width modulation)?

I want to swap to the IPS, I currently have TN LP156WF1 panel (1920x1080) and it flickers at 1700 Hz.

The only way to know would be if you have an oscilloscope, or, if from using the screen it gives you a migraine / headache after about 30 mins.

    Very appreciative for any info.

    Hello
I have just changed the BIOS on my Precision 4600
I have made some changes after the garanty expiration
Add a mSATA 250 Go SSD (for the OS)
Kept the HDD 750 Go for the Backup
Replaced the Optical DVD reader to a Caddy + SSD EVO 1To

it was working fine until recently and I have started to have some Audio dropout I have used LatencyMon who suggested to update the BIOS
I was using A08 BIOS and I have moved to the latest A16 but now I am facing some issues to have all 3 drives
I am trying to Boot on the MiniCard (m-SATA 256 Go SSD under Win 7 Pro 64Bit)
If I allow all drive I got the following message
    "MBR Error 1
Press any key to boot on floppy" but nothing happen

If I uncheck on drive it finaly boot but I cannot see the missingg drive
If I just select Minicard as the only boot device it works but I cannot see the missing drive

    any ideaThanks for your help
    Fred

Did your precision come with the nvidia card when you bought it? If so, did you have to replace the heatsink? I'm thinking of buying one of these (i7 2720qm, 8gb ram, 320gb hdd, quadro 1000m) and upgrading the GPU to the firepro M4000 (They're going for around 30$ on ebay, and for just a bit less performance then the M5100 i'll pay less then a third of the price) But if i have to replace the heatsink it's an extra 20-30$, which is the price of the gpu i would buy.

Can sombody trying to update graphic card in our Dell m4600? I mean, we know that we can put AMD Firepro M5100 and it works well (if somebody need help, contact with me via e-mail: [email protected]). But i heard that we can change graphic card to Nvidia Quadro m2000m. Even someone from Dell confirm that in this thread : http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/20015021 . Somebody try this for real and can confirm? I can confirm about AMD Firepro M5100, work perfectly, laptop gain tons of power, but what about this m2000m? Somebody try? I really like this laptop and i don't need to change it, only graphic card should be better little faster :).Any answers are priceless.

The Quadro M2000M does not work due to BIOS limitations. The fastest NVIDIA card that works is the Quadro 2000M that was originally available with this system.

More details in this thread (long read). Someone got it to work with Windows XP only.

The Dell rep could have easily misinterpreted your request to refer to the Quadro 2000M. Dell does not support GPUs that were not originally available with the system.

Even if the quadro m2000m worked, which it doesn't, , it really isn't worth it. The cheapest one i could find on ebay was 350$, and for maybe a 10% performance improvement over the M5100 it isn't worth it.

We havent heard from him for a little while. Either he got busy or just hit a low point and stopped working on the project.

Really enjoyed working with him though :)

Is m2000m only 10% better than FirePro M5100? I've heard that m2000m is on par with K5000M which is like 30%-40% better than M5100...

Yeah I am not sure if the m5100 is only of 10% slower when its just a 7770 on a mobile platform when the m2000m is the GTX 750 generally speaking.

Then again, according to a review from geeks3d about a laptop with the 960m 4GB the Valley HD score was 763.

I can score I think 720 with my m5100 at 1100c/1500m but thats running 1.2v

Guess I have a little more appreciation for my m5100 at the moment...

720 is really good for M5100. On stock clocks i have 525 on this benchmark in extreme hd mode. My M5100 works with 16GB 1333Mhz and i7 2760QM. Maybe i will try to overclock a little my card, temp is aprox 45 C on ide and no more than 62 on 100% use.

You'll need to check out the GPU upgrade thread for all the pieces to get 1.225v available to the card if your really interested in pushing to its limits.

I need a larger PSU to push it gaming 1.2v but Valley isnt really CPU intensive it seems so I can shuffle more power to the GPU. I think I am at 87-90w on this thing lol
