Well, you can't. This options shows only when you get nvidia installed. I think we searching in wrong place. Is your laptop even starting with this graphic, i mean fans work, disk drive? Do you have an opportunity to plug external display to your laptop? I understand that you use heatsink from your quadro, do you?

I have an m4600 with the 2960xm and FirePro m5950 as oppose to the Quadro 2000m graphics.
My question is will the GPU of the m5950 be automatically underclocked like with the Quadro when in battery mode?
Is so is there any way to prevent the GPU from being underclocked. I'd prefer to have a max performance at all times even at the expense of battery life.

Also, it came with a 240w charger which is the size of a brick.
Does the 2960xm benefit from 240w and will switch to the slimmer 180w charger effect performance?

Not sure about the GPU, but I'll throw out this tidbit for you:
The system has a 180W power supply, but it can only draw 100W from the battery. Depending on your workload it may be simply not possible to achieve the same performance while on battery that you can get when plugged in.

Has anyone tried installing the m2000m in their m4600?

According to NBC, its between a 950m and 960m in performance which could be the last significant upgrade for our platform.

Just curious if its been mentioned, was looking around at alternatives when I learned that the e9260 will not work with our system.

This is my first post. So hello.

This thread has been great by the way.

I have been trying to find some information is the sdcard or express card slot usable as a boot device?

I have been getting into messing with Linux and since I use this as my main PC for school I wasn't wanting to mess around with dual booting but would like some better performance than running a livecd or USB. Any suggests if the first is not an option.

I would assume you can boot off the express slot, but this is how I would do it. Buy a hard drive caddy for the disk drive bay. You replace your disk drive with a second hard drive. OR, you can buy an msata hdd/ssd, which is a smaller form factor drive(there is a slot in the m4600) and put your alternative os on there. Otherwise, usb 3.0 drive would be the best/easiest option. The express slot is only 1x pci and the sd card is slow as well. Fyi the disk drive is 3gb/s (instead of 6gb/s) which is still plenty fast, won't notice the difference most hdd, but an ssd will not run at full speed.

Edit:note that msata is also 3.0gb/s.

Yeah I am already busing the msata slot for an SSD and my HDD is used as a storage in this setup. I use the optical drive all the time. Which is why I am left with either the express card or sdcard. I did not think about the USB 3.0.

Rather sure that you cannot boot from the SD card. I am also doubtful that you could boot from the ExpressCard slot. USB 3.0 or eSATA should work.
