I don't run on battery that often. My laptop is my only computer at the moment (aside from my son's which he uses all the time). So battery life is not a really pressing issue for me. More important is the cost/benefit of the IPS screen. For lightweight everyday computing running on integrated graphics seems like the smart way to go -- go green whenever you can! Besides, who wants to see all the goodness of integrated graphics go to waste if one doesn't need the full power of discrete all the time?

Im thinking of buying a m4600 mainly because of the IPS screen as i do lalot of photo editing. I called Dell to ask about the screen and i was dissapointed that the screen is glossy. They do not have a matte option. I dont see the point of having an IPS panel when it is glossy as i cannot work with reflections. Therefore i asked them if they knew any retailers where i could go and view the display but there are not any establishments selling the m4600 at the moment. You can only purchase online. The thing is i do not want to fork out more than £2100 for a glossy panel even though it is IPS. can someone please help me and let me know if the glossy screen is a major problem in terms of reflections
    Thanks

This information is NOT correct. The IPS panel on the M4600 is matte finish. The Dell employee you talked to is incorrect.

    Hi Havoctex
Below is the actual Dell chat session log with the Dell consultant. I called them again and they say the screen is glossy. Can you point me to any online review or specs which say the screen is matte.

Hi 5150cd. Dell are still insisting that the screen is glossy. Can you point me to review or specs which definately say the screen is matte. This is the only thing stopping me from purchasing this machine.
    Thanks

Havoctex is something like the lead system engineer on the Precision laptops. He knows what he's talking about. I don't have any proof other than his word is much more qualified than the guy you were chatting with.

my WLED is matte, and IIRC Havoctex works in marketing, not technical. Unless he lied about being the person in the video :p
