    I also have a m4600 question.
The docs says the case is magnesium and aluminum. Is that the entire case?
Of course the sides, where the ports are I expect to be plastic; how about the rest?

Well, after much futzing around because I had installed an OCZ Agility 3 in the optical drive bay, and I was only getting SATA 2 throughput on ATTO (250-215 mbps r/w, and after consulting with OCZ (very helpful experts on line) I swapped the OCZ SSD into the main drive bay, and the spinning HDD into the optical bay.
Must be really careful with those tiny crews; don't want them floating around inside your precious laptop.
With this configuration, I am now getting SATA 3 510 Mbps write, 550 Mbps read. Baffling why Dell did not open all ports to SATA 3. Anyway, the original 500 Gb spinner does not need SATA 3. All OK now
    Cheers
    Patrick

Good to know, thanks for posting.

I agree that Dell should make *all* ports SATA 3. Why not??

On the same principle, why all USB ports are not 3.0 version? :)
