Also. My computer shipped with the A05 BIOS. Can I (and should I) jump to A07? I think I recall some people having a few issues with A05, wondering if there are any issues with A07.

    No issues either!

    Edit:
Actually i am not sure. My screen just had a short flicker again. It had it several times today already. It's just like the screen is switched off for a fraction of a second and then turns back on. It occurs about every half an hour. Anyone the same problem? The windows event log was not showing any events at that time...neither under Hardware- nor under System-events. I got the non-IPS by the way.

Had A07 for a little over an hour, same screen. Haven't seen it.

Not sure whether to post here or not, but as the M4600 is the alternative to the Fujitsu T901 tablet I am considering buying, can anyone advise on the below?:

    1. My current Toshiba M750 tablet with 8GB of RAM is running out of RAM (a lot of processes like Firefox (1.6 GB), Outlook (0.6 GB), CrashPlan (0.4GB) and others taking up most of it), when I am normally using the laptop/tablet.

    2. I figure the M4600 is one of the only workstations that can handle extra RAM on the motherboard (up to 32 GB), so a definite advantage to the M901 (max RAM of 8GB).

    3. Both units have docking stations - which I require, and I also tend to use dual displays (1 VGA and 1 Digital, due to the current setup)

What would you guys recommend I go with?

I rarely use the tablet functionality, but it's nice to have in the rare occasions I use it...and I do require decent battery life (due to travel requirements), but I'm only getting 1-1.5 hours on a single battery with the M750, so anything more would be icing on the cake...

Just created another thread here in the more appropriate area: http://forum.notebookreview.com/wha...6810-fujitsu-t901-dell-m4600-workstation.html , so please reply there so we keep this thread on-topic. Thanks!

I decided to open the back of my laptop just for a little look around. I noticed one of the screws from the GPU fan missing. (I initially mixed it up with the CPU). Is that of any concern? I did notice before that sometimes when the fan starts to speed up I would hear a little noise but it only lasts for a second so I figured it was nothing. Maybe that's the cause? Anything I should do?

Sorry for the quality, lent my camera out, stuck with my phone.

Did you call the US or use a French agent?

How did you manage to get the price down - did they store your configuration and review it each time?

I just got 2 different m4600 refurbished laptops. One of them identifies the display as lgd02d9 and the other one as sec5448. The latter is the better display - very evenly back-lit with really good viewing angles. Haven't done any calibration tests yet and was wondering if someone has any more info on these two. Unfortunately I am going to keep only one and the one with the LG display comes with the graphics I prefer - Quadro 2000. The better display comes with ATI graphics. Judging by the display quality I would have thought that the sec5448 is RGBLED if it didn't come with the ATI card...

Your system is fairly similar to mine, except I have ATI firepro m5950 and 9 cell battery. I also have 4 GB of ram, rather than 2. Otherwise I have Vpro and other features that you have as well.

You can read this post I made when I was trying to enable boot to both IRRT (Intel rapid restore Technology) and AHCI mode. It was working fine when I figured it out and briefly tested it. I have since moved to pure AHCI formatted fresh install on a better, larger capacity HDD on my M4600. I did not want to deal with the headache of IRRT and after consulting with some IT friends, I don't think I really have a good need for it. I can always backup the critical files or even HDD with acronis or some other software package.
