It uses the same board as it uses the same socket and has exactly the same TDP specs. It's simply more performance for the same price.

Question regarding the BIOS here: Does anyone of you use the UEFI Boot list option? What is your settings/configuration?

I will investigate this (if there is a click sound), because for me this laptop is very quiet - I am used to very loud ones. I also don't know which fan turns on and when.

EDIT: I was wrong, I also hear this clicking sound. But it is almost inaudible, so you must have used internal mic to record this so distinctly. :)

I see that the original question has been answered, but I have a followup question. It looks as if the color space switching is not color management aware, which implies it will not change the video card LUT if you switch color spaces.

Is that correct? If so, does that mean you need to recalibrate each time you switch color space? Or do you use another application to load the LUTs?

What calibration hardware and software are people using with their 4600s?

I know there was some mention of it before on here, but is there anyway to dim or disable the webcam light temporarily? Not just because it's annoying, but the lid of my laptop is getting pretty hot and It's probably because I've been on Skype for a while.

Precision M4600 IPS solution in fact does not support wide gamut to sRGB conversion. However, HP Elitebook is relatively much better with STDP6038 Mapping board hence the more expensive solution. Both are for the software calibration only.

First, I am fairly sure that you can put the M4600 display into sRGB mode with the Dell PremierColor application.

Second, the HP Elitebook will never be a better solution in my opinion since they have a 10 bit video card with an 8 bit connection to a 10 bit IPS panel. This info is from HP's own technical documentation and they go to great lengths to obscure it.

I prefer 1024 shades of Red Green and Blue (10 bit) on the Dell M4600 panel over the 256 shades (8 bit) on the HP panel. Maybe having 25% of the color information works for others.
