Can you change the resolution to other size like fructis75 postet, or only full hd on your intern display.

I ask me, where comes the differents, is it display manufacture, or driver or something else?

I can only display what fructis75 posted. It's very likely both of us have the same 1920 X 1080 LCD screen on our M4600.

When I plug in my old desktop monitor, my m4600 will detect it and list different resolution choice when I force desktop display to that monitor, which has a max resolution of 1280 X 1024. I cannot select 1920 X 1080 on that desktop monitor.

So whatever your current or planned desktop monitor purchase has the resolution you want, you should be fine, as long as Windows can detect it, recognize it, and act accordingly.

I know M4600 can drive multiple monitors. I remember reading someone's review of using 3 monitors at the same time. If I go out and purchase a monitor with HDMI, I should be able to do the same thing of using 2 desktop + my own laptop monitor. I haven't seen any M4600 review of using 4 monitors at the same time but I haven't looked very hard and someone probably did it already.

    @blitz47

Sry, im not sure if i understand your post right, excuse my bad english please.

For me its not important to change the resolution on a seperate monitor, i ask if it is possible to change the resolution on the included panel on the m4600?

So if i play a game on the m4600, i maybe want to change to interpolate 1600x900 or 1366x768 or something else if the grafikcard is to slow or my eyes to bad :). Normal this must be possible or not?

    Thx.

If you order the same LCD on your M4600, you can only change to the resolution on the list. I did not get any o ther options.

    Hi there,

i have to work a lot on battery with high cpu load. So it would be nice if there is an option for an additional battery. I was wondering if the 9 cell slice battery with 97Wh

DELL 97 Whr 9-Cell Lithium Battery Slice for Select Dell Latitude Laptops : Laptop Accessories | Dell
    Manufacturer Part# : X57F1
    Dell Part# : 312-1242

works with the Precision M4600. I mean the docking port should actually be the same as the latitude E series port. Somebody around who tried the 9 cell slice battery on precision M4600?

    Thx.

    Regards pan

Notebookcheck reviewer mentioned the resolutions available "out of the box". Both the Intel integrated Graphics and NVidia Graphics allows to set up custom resolutions. Try them out to see if you can setup the resolution you want.

Intel Graphics: Right click on Desktop -> "Graphics Properties..."
Choose "Advanced Mode" on the left if it is not that mode already. Choose "Display\Custom Resolutions" and on the right enter the values you want for the "Built-in-Display" then press Add.

NVidia: Right click on Desktop -> "NVIDIA Control Panel"
In the left tree select "Display\Change resolution" -> press the "Customize..." button -> a list with additional resolutions will pop up. If you don't find the resolution you want press the "Create Custom Resolution..." button and in the new dialog enter the values you want. Here you can also change the "Timing" for the new resolution.

    I hope this helps!

I have a M4600 arriving next week. Read all the threads and reviews and decided to cut the weight a bit by getting the 6 cell battery. Wondering if anyone else has done the same and how much run time you get from it? My config is i7-2820 Quad @ 2.3GHz, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia 1000M with IPS screen, 128 SSD mini card as primary and 500GB HHD as secondary.

Would be nice to get a two hour run from the six cell just doing word processing and wifi but if I need to I'll get the 9 cell later on to fill in on longer unplugged uses.

    Thanks

I have been trying in vain to disable an annoying volume indicator on my M4600 screen. I am NOT talking about the green bar volume indicator that comes up in the lower right of the screen when I use my volume adjustment buttons on my keyboard. I am talking about a large icon that shows up in the middle of the screen. It looks like a speaker with sound coming out of it, and it also has an indicator bar underneath it to show the volume level.

I can't figure out if this has to do with some Dell setting, the speaker drivers, Windows 7, or the keyboard.

    Any ideas?

Hi. Yesterday I ordered a M4600 from the Dell outlet for 849+tax. It's basic. Core i5-2520M, 2GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, AMD FirePro M5950 and the 1920x1080 non-IPS screen.

I was looking at several of the configurations they had and seemed to had stumbled upon this gem, roughly the same price as some of the other rigs but a Full HD screen vs the 1366x768 the others were offering so I quickly snatched it up. FHD on the other models cost around 930.

Tonight, still a bit confused at the lower price, I decided to go and see if it's possible to order the same model again, and it isn't. The lower price seems to have been a bug. The laptop is on the way and I'm wondering if they would have downgraded the screen or would have let it slide or what?
