What type of hard drive do you have? Did you de-crapify the laptop, or does it have a standard Dell build?

But it is not. plain and simple and a pitty.
The i7 620m is an Arrandale and is a Dualcore --> DDR 1066
The i7 720m and above are Clarksfield Quadcores --> DDR 1333

The i7 620m has much more in comon with the i5 CPU but 4MB of Cache instead of 3MB and a higher clock then the best i5 Model - but it is still an arrandale.

Of course you can use DDR 1333 but it will not run at 1066mhz.
Yes the mainboard is the same and supports DDR 1333 so if you change the CPU you can utilize DDR1333.

As DDR 1333 is not really more expensive then DDR 1066 I too would really appreciate if Dell would deliver all M4500 with DDR 1333 - just to be safe for the future.

i7 620m really doesn't support 1333 memory. It depends on CPU because i7 processors have memory controller integrated in them. (worse cpu -> worse memory controller...)

    Here is a list

They took the new BIOS down, even the patch. I guess they are remaking it to fix the install bugs. If you still want it, PM me.

I'm using a MS Wireless Presenter 8000 bluetooth mouse connected to the Dell Wireless 375 Bluetooth Module radio (not using the USB BT radio dongle that was shipped with the mouse).

The range on this BT wireless connection is about a foot from either side of the M4500. I had another foot or two or range using the same mouse on an older Dell laptop equipped with an older Dell internal BT module.

The mouse might be working in some power saving mode, but I can't find a config setting.

Any ideas? Any recommendations for a full size mouse which works well with the 375 BT module?

Is there a document somewhere which describes the features available on the Dell 375 BT Module with AMP?

    Thanks.

What exactly is the "minicard" drive? What are typical uses?

I'm thinking of getting the 128GB SSD and a 500GB secondary drive. Would getting a minicard drive instead of the 128GB SSD give me any benefits?

Yes, that is probably the truth of the day... :) It is easy to be focusing on the numbers and the details when looking for a new workstation...

Anyway, when choosing the i7-620m together with 8GB of 1333 MHz-mem on the swedish configurator I get the following error message:
"The Memory you have selected is not available with the Processor you have selected. To fix this issue please click on the highlighted words to be directed to the appropriate section to modify your selections."

But when I do the same trick on the American configurator it works perfectly fine... Weird. Maybe it has to do with the proximity to the arctic circle? ;)

The minicard drive is a 64GB SSD that is attached to one of the mini-PCIx slots. You can use it for whatever you would use any hard drive for. It's available as a boot option.

I'm awaiting arrival of my M4500 with the 64GB minicard and will post benchmarks on it once I have it.
