I went with a Lenovo W510 w/ FHD on ebay for $1688(new not refurb)... it's already in transit.

Dell Canada wanted to charge me $2724 for an identical spec M4500.

    No thanks.

Do you, or anyone else for that matter, know why it is only possible to pick 1033 MHz memories to the i7 620m in the Dell configurator? Not being able to choose 1333 MHz memories for my new workstation was my only concern during config. But I decided against it rather than swapping to a quad (I'm in greater need of 2 fast cores than 4 slower).

Well, well, maybe the impact will be almost non-detectable after all. At least in comparison with my old horse (an M4300 with far to much junk installed for its own good). I will hopefully see on June 8, or earlier...

Because the i7 620m just does not support DDR 1333 Ram. Of course you can use it, but it will just run @ 1066Mhz.

Just got a further update from our rep. It wasn't the panel, it's the webcam. Orders without the webcam are shipping straight away.

I've recently purchased one of these with 64x win7 4gigs of ram

And so far I'm not impressed...It seems it's not running as crisp and fast as it should

Could this be the raid slowing me down?
    Got any tips?

It just has this slight delay to everything and it doesn't blase through apps(Adobe..Outlook..Etc) like you would expect it too

No idea, really. When I go to the configurator, it does let me pick 1333MHz memory just fine. I see no reason why the processor would not support it. It's the system board, not the processor that needs to be able to support it, and of course the processor needs to be able to access that memory at its rated speed for you to get any benefit. Both should be true for the 620.

Having said that, the real-world difference between the two types of memory will probably be small.
