I did a bunch of reading...installing now with AHCI. I have no plans to implement raid so IRRT made little sense to me.

It is curious. I ordered the M4500 with the minipciexpress ssd. It is not possible to order the wwan in germany. On the US webside, it is possible to order wwan and minipciexpress ssd together.

    regards,
    Dirk

Good enough battery life, for such a powerful CPU.

BTW, what's the shape of 9-cells battery and how it "integrates" with notebook chassis?
I'm asking that because I've seen some quite ugly solutions for 9-cells, like Studio XPS 16 one:

dezoris has posted a lot of pics around post number 81 in this thread (click here).

The 9 cell sticks out the back a little bit but it does add any height to the machine, probably because if it did it would interfere with the docking port on the bottom.

Thanks merlin, I missed the pics.
I think Dell found a very reasonable solution for M4500 9-cells, aesthetically pleasing too (or, at least, not unpleasing ...).

I'm about to become a M4500 owner, though I'm not feeling as good about it as I was. I ordered my M4500 three days ago (i7-820QM, 8GB, FHD screen, FX880). I noticed this morning that there is now a $310 Instant Savings on the M4500. Since my order is not going to ship any time soon I'm hoping I can get the price changed, but from what I've read elsewhere Dell does not have price guarantees any more. When I last ordered a laptop from Dell in 2007 the same thing happened to me and I was able to get it corrected. The business order support is closed until Monday, so this issue is going to bug me all weekend.

I saw the sale as well. Just tell them you want to cancel the order if they don't want to change the price.

Was here already discussed why there is a battery with 81WH and a battery with 90WH?
Baybe just one version sticks out of the back or what reason could it be to offer two batteries with almost identical capacity?

Tom - thanks again for your help

Windows Experience index is now 6.5 (the 6.5 being the graphics). My hard disk score went from 5.9 to 7.6 (250gb 7200RPM -> Intel G2 160GB SSD)

Unfortunately their current policy says that orders can't be canceled once they are "In Production" and that the only option is to return the laptop for a refund (minus a 15% return fee...which more than wipes out the price difference). I guess I'll find out for sure on Monday, but it looks like Dell pretty much has the bases covered on enforcing the order price. I guess I should have realized that Dell's policies could have changed dramatically in the 3 years since my last laptop purchase.
