that's the latency i'm getting too, although, it's not affecting what i'm using the machine for, which is as a digital audio workstation. i've been able to get pretty good performance with the m4400 with a cakewalk ua-1g usb audio interface

Hmmm... So is it just the Connection Manager or the entire suite of Dell Managers that come packaged as the Dell Control Point software? i.e. Dell Security Manager and Dell System Manager - are these also bloatware or are critical to system performance?

i agree with minibob, the connection manager really is redundant. however the rest of the controlpoint software you need for features like the fingerprint reader. the only bloatware i can see is the connection manager.

Yeah, I got rid of the Intel software for the wifi. I'm fed up with unnecessary and buggy replacements for the built in manager in Windows.

On another note, does anyone else's laptop get really hot when using the VGA port? It's usually warm, but is particularly hot when I have a monitor hooked up.

The heat dissipation is a bit of the problem, actually - it seems to weaken the paint coating on the left speaker grill, and it peels rather easily. I got fed up and got rid of it, but I had to sand off the paint on the other side.

i believe the purpose of the connection manager is mainly for the wimax/wwan cards.

Very strange problem but my FN+ brightness doesn't work anymore with windows 7. I haven't installed anything new or changed any setting. Any ideas on how to fix this ? Thanks

What version of Windows 7 do you have? RTM or RC?

I'm running RC Build 7100 as well and my Fn+ brightness works perfectly. Note that I am running 64bit.
