    lol. i dint respond to it because i havent tried win7 yet, and most of the possibilities had already been suggested.

    i think im gonna have to call dell again though, the rubber "feet" on the sides of the keyboard that protect the screen have disappeared.

    its going to be annoying if they tell me they need to replace the whole palmrest.

    dont want to risk getting the screen damaged with those gone, i move the notebook around quite a bit

    I think Weegie had the same prob...i'd just cut some rubber to fit and glue it in really...If Dell does have them as loose parts that would be easier but i wouldn't let them swap the palmrest for it.

    btw...mine looks like it's warped a bit :( The bottom right corner doesn't touch the desk...no idea how that happened, i have a pretty good case for when i'm transporting it and i mostly use it on a desk. Would this be a warranty issue? It would probably mean they would have to change the chassis or even send me a new system, lol. I'd go far a new one, not a refurb but i expect them to want to swap the chassis and that might not be worth it i think

    Yeah,mine have been gone for months and months,they're as good as useless anyway,I have scuffing on the bezel along the bottom edge where the dell logo is from me holding the notebook between the hinge's when it's closed and those stupid little buffer's wouldn't help there anyway.
    Have been meaning to make some out of 1.5mm rubber [as LPTP-LVR say's]with a wad punch,glue them on the bezel but haven't got there yet

    Lol...breadcrumb,that was pretty funny Roel !
    Warped body is definitely warranty in my eye's,maybe just stress relieving over time due to the cast metal nature of body frame or something,shouldn't happen anyway,you sure one of the feet aren't missing lol ?
    I wouldn't be cutting down the rubber feet to make it sit flat either,you paid for a notebook that sit's flat,not a rocking horse.....why do you say a new chassis may not be worth it?

    625mhz core speed on the FX1700m compared to 500mhz on the FX770m.

    Interesting that my local dell site only has the 1700m listed now....I guess they think this justifies the 500 bucks they just bumped the price up

    Lol...no the feet are all still there ;) I'm just not looking forward to a tech guy taking the whole thing apart to swap the chassis, afraid they'damage something in the process or maybe it'll won't fit together like it did. Which was the case with some people here whose palmrest etc was taken of. I'll give them a call and hear what they can do. If they do damage something i can have them fix/replace it again but i just don't want too much hassle i guess, kinda need to get work done ;)

    All my rubbers are still in place and the only mark i have is on the top right corner of the bezel but that seems to come from the Vista sticker on the palmrest.

    @CSHawkeye81...

    Don't know,probably much the same as the FX770m overclocked 125mhz,which from my few experiment's amounted to pretty much no difference in heat.

    I do know for a fact though that 25w cpu to 44w cpu make's 20degC difference max temp.

    @LPTP-LVR
    Maybe the Dutch tech's are of a better standard,or if not,the new M/E series have been around for a while now,so,they should be familiar with the design and disassembly by now.
    I wouldn't let a few bad experience's early on put me off getting it repaired or replaced.

    Are the forum error's annoying or what!!!

    True, even the that i had around at the beginning did seem to know what they were doing...i think i'll try. Like i said, i'll make them replace whatever they scratch/damage anyway ;).

    And yes, i could definetly do without the 404's
