same here....i get just over 2hours without switching anything off, running performance mode and display @ 50%...but i always have it 50%...If i switch wireless off and go in energy saving mode i get between 2 1/2 and 3 hours.
this is while watching a movie or something like that

Does that sound about right for a 6cell or should it be more?

At one point I was getting some bad backlight bleeding (rgbled screen). Pressing on the plastic bezel at the bottom and sides of the display cleared it up. I don't know if this will solve the problem some people have been seeing or not.

I have the 6 cell, 9 cell, and extended battery slice. I use the 6 cell most of the time and usually get 1.5 to 2 hours out of it.

that sounds horrible for a 15 inch laptop. thats what i would expect from a 17 incher.

good thing i went with the 9 cell instead...anything below 3 is not acceptable for me.

I have an issue with my RGBLED and I want to see if others experience it.

Basically, my backlight flickers if it isn't on full brightness. This isn't the 40Hz flicker or anything like that, its an intermittent flicker which is most noticeable when I'm typing against a white background. Its irritating and makes me feel that the hardware is broken.

It occurs both when on battery and power. I don't notice it if the brightness is full or close to full, but happens frequently when I pull it down a few notches.

I spoke with Support about it last week, they said I'd need a new display. They replaced it today, but I'm having the same problem with this one.

i would very much like to disable speedstep. disabling in the bios forces the cpu to run at 1595mhz all of the time. setting the minimum and maximum speed in the power options profile to 100% also does not work. dell support is useless in this particular case.

is there a way to disable speedstep and force the cpu to run at its rated 2.93ghz all of the time?

please do not ask me why i want to disable it...and please do not go into what its purpose is and how uiseful it is. i am aware of all of these facts.

thanks in advance to anyone who can help me here.

If you use 32bit xp/vista,try notebook hardware control, set it to max speed....and it stay's there, whether on battery or main's [can set them both differently also] plus a few other thing's you may find useful.

There is a bugfix version for dell's under the main download link.

If your using 64bit,I don't think it work's.
