I don't have any...I believe the people that do, at least one anyway, only had the issue with Vista, not XP or Windows 7. FWIW.

    Hello everybody!

    Finally, I ordered my M4400 today! :)

I wanted the WUXGA 2CCFL screen but, in the last budget, my sales manager put it WUXGA RGBLED without cost. I must say that this screen doesn't appear on Dell Spain website.

My sales manager said me that RGBLED screen is better choice than 2CCFL (and more expensive!). Really, I don't need 100% color gamut for my tasks but I believe that is better choice and without cost! What do you think?

    I have the following specs:

    Precision M4400 : Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53GHz,1066MHz,6MB)
Base Option : 512MB Discrete nVidia FX770M Graphics Card (with 512MB dedicated memory)
Display : 15.4in Widescreen WUXGA (1920X1200) Truelife with RGB LED
Camera : Integrated 0.3 MegaPixel Camera and Microphone for RGB LED LCD Panel
LCD Back Cover : RGB LED
    Memory : 4096MB (2x2048) 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel
Disco duro : 250GB SATA (7200RPM) disco duro (sensor de caída libre)
Palmrest : UPEK Swipe Fingerprint Reader Biometric
    Unidad óptica : 8X DVD+/-RW
Power Supply And Power Cord : Worldwide 130W AC Adapter with European Power Cord
    Battery : Primary 6-cell 56 W/HR LI-ION
    Wireless : EMEA Intel Pro Wireless 5300 (802.11a/g/ Draft-n 3x3)
Wireless : EMEA Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth 2.1 MiniCard
Keyboard : Internal Spanish Qwerty Backlit Keyboard
Operating System : Spanish Windows Vista Business SP1
    Custom Hard Drive Partition - 60GB Primary/Rest Logical 1 S
Basic Warranty - Next Business Day - Minimum Warranty
Maletín de transporte : neopreno funda para 15,4" portátiles (Kit)
Resource DVD : Mobile Precision M4400 Diagnostics and Drivers

    Regards!!

I believe someone mentioned here that even though the M4400 ships with PC2-6400 @ 800MHz, that it can only really run at up to PC2-5300 @667MHz. Is this true? If so, why?

And consequently, which would be faster/better as a 4GB (2X2GB DIMMs) upgrade (assuming same price):

    PC2-6400 @ 800MHz, Cas Latency of 5ms
    PC2-5300 @ 667MHz, Cas Latency of 4ms

The memory should run at 800MHz since it's based on the PM45 chipset. The difference between the two you listed is practically zero. Slight changes in the mMemory speed and latency have little effect in the real world.

Thanks @sgogweta, thats what I thought.. The fact of upgrading from 2GB to 4GB will far outstrip any variations in speed/latency.

Thanks to all for the thread. I'm looking to replace my years-old Latitude D800, and have read every one of the 1935 messages in the thread over the last couple days.

I'll be purchasing one with minimum RAM and doing an aftermarket upgrade. What 4GB SODIMMs are people using for 8GB total?

I'm using two Qimonda 4GB modules on my M4400, and the future ex is using two Elpida 4GB modules on her E6400.

Did anyone use Slice Battery for their M4400?

I would like to know whether it will block the GPU air vent under the laptop when Slide Battery is inside.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi im using slice, it leaves around 1.5 - 2mm distance so it is not blocking anything, but it is not optimal.
I even use it as a cool slice if i work in my bet or any soft sufrace and it work quite eficiently.
