Wow u must of spent a lot on this fully macked out laptop. Couldnt u of waited for the m4500 rather than replacing the unit?

@LPTP-LVR i noticed on the "windows wei score" thread your Ram scored equal to your cpu @6.4
my cpu is 6.4 but the ram is 5.9 .......Why is that? can i speed it up?

The 8gb of ram helps alot with the memory part of the wei score.

    I get the following:
    Processor 6.4
    Ram 6.4
    Graphics 6.5
    Gaming Graphics 6.5
    Hard disk 7.7

    Overall 6.4

but when I had my first m4400 with only 4gb of ram my Ram score was 5.9

It's likely that this is caused by the DPC problems these machines seem to have.

Try the following in the order as listed:
    • Install the latest BIOS.
    • Try updating the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (driver and application) using the latest version from the Intel site.
    • Try setting the Wifi card to "802.11b/g only" (no 802.11a) via Windows Device Manager.
    • Try disabling eSATA in BIOS
This is what I remember for my own configuration (see signature), you mileage may vary.
If this doesn't help, read this thread for more information: Dell Latitude DPC Latency Issues.

Edit: It'd be nice if you used proper capitalization, thank you.

Did you fully update Windows after you got the laptop? I am troubleshooting a similar issue that arose for me starting around the 14th or so, which was around the same time I installed Windows Update KB972270. I'm removing it now to see if it fixes my issues, the laptop seems to hang when coming back from a suspend.

Considering your signature you have only one DIMM slot used (you have 1x4GB) and this could be the reason. Two DIMMs configurations (like 2x2GB or 2x4GB) work in Dual-channel which should work faster and could get higher WEI score I think.

Hi, with DPC latency checker 1.1.0 I have values from 300 to 500 microseconds. No periodical spikes but still isn't that quite high?

On my desktop from Dell (Optiplex 760) I have this latency only from 3 to 30 under any circumstances.

On M4400 I have latest BIOS, drivers (including Intel Matrix), using AHCI... doesn't matter if I turn of wifi or BT. I had these values on WinXP Pro x86 and I have them the same also with Win7 Pro x64.

    What are your values?
