Has AMD released any killer desktop CPUs currently? I am looking to get a desktop workstation in a month

Look at the Ryzen 3000 series, the Ryzen 9 or Ryzen Threadripper series specifically. They're quite competitive against Intel's top offerings and have pushed Intel to lower prices for 10th gen. They'll be launching 4000 series later this year (summer timeframe, I think?).

Just wondering, should we expect any price drops in the 7x40 line when the 7x50 are released?

Normally there is not a price drop in the old system when the new system drops. What actually happens is prices of certain components in the current-gen system drop (slowly) over the year or so when it is on sale. They're already a little bit lower than what we saw at launch. They'll sell 7X40 systems until it doesn't make sense for them anymore and then they will stop and sell 7X50 only.

It will however be easier to find refurbished 7X40 systems on the Dell Outlet. A lot of people use that to get a cheaper price, and you still get Dell's full warranty support. It'll take a few months for 7X50 to be available there.

From the new AMD Renoir processors, I am more impressed by the 4X00U line than by the 4X00H line. They seem to have greatly closed the gap between a 15W CPU and a 45W CPU. The 15 W Ryzen 7 4800U is almost on par with a i9-9980HK, with the 4900U still to be announced.

This could mean that for some people like me who are mostly interested in CPU performance, workstations of the size of the Precision 75X0 could easily start offering too small advantage in comparison with way lighter systems.

The new XPS line was properly revealed today, so this is what the new Precision 5000-series systems will be like.
    https://blog.dell.com/en-us/new-xps-15-and-17-are-here/

All Thunderbolt/USB-C (like a MacBook)... They do have a headphone jack and SD card slot.
XPS 15 is available now, but XPS 17 won't be available until "summer". (I do not expect Precision 5750 to be available before the XPS 17.)

    Alienware also had a refresh.

The starting price of the last years model : $1099
    This year's model starts at : $1299

Do you think the new models settle in prices mid year?

I have consistently seen the prices slowly slide downwards over the course of a year or so... though I don't watch it closely enough to point to any particular pattern. It seems like Dell is updated their prices every month or so. You'll see it for the base price of the system and also for many of the upgrade options that you can choose when configuring. Sometimes the price of one of the upgrades will go up instead of down.

Can you describe when new Dell Precision with USB 4.0, PCI Expresso 4.0, DDR 5.0 and Ice Lake-H processor will arrive?
The current 7740 series does not suit both performance and noise, and, of course, price. I am terribly disappointed that Intel still has not released a fresh line of mobile processors and there is still no USB 4.0. It seems that AMD’s mobile processors have already caught up with Intel’s top processors in performance. Why doesn’t Dell install these processors from AMD into the Precission?
In your opinion, what is the likelihood that Dell will nevertheless begin to install processors in the Precission?

There will be no Ice Lake H-series processors. The high-end mobile CPU space will be staying at 14nm / Comet Lake for this generation.

There might be Tiger Lake H-series processors (which are currently rumored). These would be 11th gen CPUs and wouldn't drop until about this time next year. If it is not Tiger Lake-H, then it will be Rocket Lake-H for 11th gen. Either platform should support both USB 4 and PCIe 4 but not DDR5. I previously made a comment about Tiger Lake maybe supporting DDR5, but it turns out that this is LPDDR5, which is more different than I thought and wouldn't be suitable for a mobile workstation. For DDR5 I believe you will have to wait until the 2022 model / 12th gen (Alder Lake?). I could be wrong but everything I can find indicates that 11th gen won't have regular DDR5 support.

I'm sure that Dell is paying attention to AMD. I don't know if/when we will start seeing their CPUs in business systems. I wouldn't be surprised if we see them in the Latitude line before we see them in the Precision line though.

I'm leaning towards waiting until 2022 for an upgrade to my home system to get both DDR5 and NVIDIA Hopper (which is looking like it might drop sometime next year in desktops, a fast turnaround from Ampere; NVIDIA is already booking 5nm production capacity from TSMC which would have to be for Hopper). That would be a full ten years on the M6700. I can't wait any longer than that. If come next year it doesn't look like Hopper will be dropping on that schedule then I will probably get the 2021 system / Precision 7760 with Ampere and miss out on DDR5.
