I am a software developer and like CPU and storage to run several VMs at once.

As I understand the Intel GPU can drive my two additional displays (1920x1200 + 2560x1440), so I have no need for a GPU where even the smallest option costs 400+€. Better invest into storage for my needs. I even expect to see longer battery times when less HW is attached.

How about the 180w adapter in that config?
If that causes throttling because of some BIOS settings like in my m6800 that would be a no go but otherwise it would be preferred to carry less when travelling.

Would M1200 be available or something similar? £400 min option for discrete cards sounds very steep.

Discovered more trade-offs on the 7730...
It forces you to buy a high-capacity battery for a high-end GPU but you cannot have the high-end battery with a 2.5" drive. So, essentially, a high-end GPU means that you cannot install a 2.5" drive. (I typically pair a large 2.5" HDD with my SSDs for mass storage, cheaper, and I have lots of stuff that doesn't need to be crazy fast to access.)

    Questions.
    * If you order with just one SSD and 6-cell battery, will it include the interposer needed to install an M.2 SSD in the SATA drive slot? (For future expansion, if the SSD does not come installed there.) (Nevermind, I realize interposer is not required to install an M.2 drive in this slot.)
    * Do any of the M.2 slots support SATA SSDs or are they all NVMe only? (Answering my own questions, the manual says that they all support SATA.)

Just had a chat with Dell support and the Agent told me 128Gb RAM option will be available approximately at the end of June.

Thanks, I've been poking through the manual but I hadn't realized that, that's backwards from how it was with the prior generation.

Exactly, now by default you can have 3 x M.2 NVME and trade one for SATA 2.5". In the prior generation you had 1 x M.2 and SATA 2.5" which could be changed to another M.2.

What about the Ubuntu availability? I would like to purchase 7530 without Windows.

Do you have technical knowledge if there is any difference in firmware or UEFI between Windows and Ubuntu version of Precision line? Of course, Windows version has the Windows license key in the MSDM ACPI table. Anything else?
