So has anyone successfully managed to install a touch screen onto the Dell 7710 or know if it is possible?

    Hi Erik (and all others),

One month ago I got my 7720 as a replacement for my non-repairable M6700. As I already told you I couldn't get any warrenty extension by the "DELL swap specialist" in Bengalore. But yesterday I contacted DELL here in Germany and without any hassle they offered me 5yr ProSupport starting at the delivery day of my new Precision. They couldn't do ProSupportPlus, but that's OK.
    Better sit down: the price...

    ... 1,016.49 Euro + VAT.
Phew... even for me a little shock. But since I have to rely ony my gear and I need short downtimes I did it. So now I have On-Site NBD support till July 2022.

    Cheers,
    Alex

Did anyone switch to a 7710/20 from a ZBook 17? I'm reluctant to upgrade, since none of the new Workstation tickle my fancy. If so, how happy are you with your decision and your new device?

Has anyone had any troubles with the dc cable overheating (also i dont have a battery) pull all the power from wall outlet (330w charger) cuts off lately if game more then 30mins (GTX 1070n which pulls about 110 watts continuous, but wall power pulls around 190W and charger is 330w, so assuming that's max pull) here's some pics below. I thinking of upping the wire size but unsure if that can blow my second mobo 20170930_141541.jpg 20170930_141603.jpg econd mobo

I wonder if you may have a short? Instead of changing to thicker wire consider changing entire cable and using same gauge thickness. Also closer examine connector where it is burnt incase it was jumping/shorting at the connector. burnt connector is abnormal and I'd think that if you thickened the cable then you may change the location of the "fuse" , hopefully not to the traces on your mobo.

No, I've not had the problem you are describing with my 7710. Maybe others have. The 240W output power supply that shipped with 7710 will get warm to hot (but not too hot to touch) which is normal and the 240W is more than enough for my system with a 100W gpu and 45W cpu. I've not measured power draw at the wall though. But while CPU and GPU bench-marking, the 240W power supply will get hot but not abnormally hot and the cable is not even warm.

yea i make sure none of the wires are touching, but definitely ain't buying another cable for 30$ (two connectors and wire buy separately for like 8$) and it started when i shorten my other motherboard

It's a great machine and everything works well. I think it looks better and perhaps performs better than the HP.
