    Thanks for the links!
So, if one had to try a 64Gb RAM setup for the 5530, should go with the NECC version (first link)? Once they hit the market as it seems they are not there yet...

Sorry, didn't like xml file format. Here is the Sytem Info as a txt file (still xml format though).

    It shows something odd -

    FRMW Dell Docking Station 00.00.00.00

    Anybody else seeing that?

Spent the morning with Dell Support remoted in to my 7730. They checked every software orifice available, and still having USB issues. Tried with a TB16 and two TB18dc's, same results.

This is looking solidly like a hardware issue.

EDIT: laptop hardware issue, not dock hardware issue.

thank you friend. Let us know if the new motherboard fixed the problem or not.
I feel perhaps the problem will remain there. I have three 7730, all of them have this same problem.

    Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my laptop here at work.

I presently have a Precision 7510 laptop w/an Intel i7-6820HQ CPU, Nvidia Quadro M2000M Video w/4 GB Video Memory, 32 GB Memory, Samsung PM961 NVMe SSD Card, and Windows 7 Enterprise.

What I'm going to request is a Precision 7530, w/an Intel i9-8950HK CPU, Nvidia P3200 Video w/6 GB Video Memory, 64 GB Memory, 512 GB NVMe Class 50 SSD Card. We're sadly moving over to Windows 10, so I'd have to go w/that operating system.

Outside of the normal software such as Microsoft Office, I also run CATIA V5, TeamCenter, and quit possibly, will be running NX8.5 in the future.

The graphics card is the most important item, thus the Nvidia P3200 w/the 6 GB graphics vs. the M2000M w/4 GB. Plus the 64 GB system memory vs. 32 GB.

What system memory should I get the ECC or Non-ECC. I want the fastest memory.

What are your opinions or suggestions?

How about running Windows 10 Pro "Workstation"? Would it be the better choice for my work doing CAD? I'd have to go w/an Intel Core Xeon E-2186M CPU instead of the i9-8950 HK since that's the only CPU offered with it by Dell, though the two CPU's are pretty much the same.

The reason I use a laptop instead of a desktop is because I on occasion have to travel. The 7510 does a pretty good job when running CATIA, but as the models get bigger, it does slow down.

Of course I may not be able to get everything I'd like to get in the laptop. It most likely would come w/just an Intel i7 instead, Windows 10 Enterprise, but I definitely want the P3200 Video w/its 6 GB memory, and the 64 GB system memory

    Thanks.

    @GoHack

Windows 10 Pro Workstations will not perform any better for CAD. It supports some obscure features that you are unlikely to use. You can read about them at their site. The extra features require specialized hardware that you only find in server grade machines, and the Precision laptops do not have it; as such, I do not recommend getting it. But, it's required if you buy a Xeon CPU, most likely because of the conditions of the OEM agreement with Microsoft.

ECC memory is also only an option if you buy a Xeon CPU. It is not faster. It is error correcting, so it is resilient against memory problems in hardware.
