Precision 7530 & Precision 7730 owner's thread

Cool, let me give you something more. It is my 7730 results for 50 cbr15 loops, before and after repaste. Intel gpu is disabled, I only use P5200.

 

By the way, the middle key for the stick pointer on the keyboard doesn't seem to be very responsive. I use it as stick scroll. But if I hit it soft it sometimes it doesn't responsive. I have to press it harder and slower and it will work. This is completely different from my M4800's middle key which is just responsive.
Does anyone have similar problem? I have two 7730 (I returned one with non-fips finger printer, because it is so small and not good. I keep the FIPS finger printer one.), both have the same problem.

 

When I set my 7730 to high perf power plan the task manager shows between 3,4 and 3,9 GHz on battery for my i9.

 

I tried 18.04 on 7530 before sending it back. It installed ok but couldn't load after restart. Just to get the installation going I had to mess with BIOS settings quite a bit. In the end only Legacy mode worked and even then there were issues. Tried Manjaro and it loaded but quickly became unstable. I gave up.

 

just realized a lot of rattle sound of the keyboard or if you move the 7730, is actually come from the empty m2 ssd slot under the keyboard. It is the cover collides with the empty slot. so you can either remove the ssd cover, or put a ssd inside. or put something as thick as a m2 ssd to hold the cover. It solvers my problem.

 

Is that the M.2 slot in the middle near the RAM or one of the others?

If so I will be sure to fill that slot when it comes. Thanks for the heads up.

 

yes that one. when it is empty , the body rattles when I am typing but now that is gone. I just put a thick double face tape inside lol

 

strange my cpu can reach peak score without repaste. but my P5200 can only reach 165 fps. Maybe something is wrong.

edit, Ran again with Nvidia 3d setting to maximum performance. score reached 181 fps. not bad.

 

As already mentioned, it's not recommended to use Cinebench's OPENGL test... Consider using Unigine Heaven/Valley or 3DMark Fire Strike instead.

 

My 7730 has not yet arrived but I note from looking at the manual that all the PCIe SSD slots are at the bottom but that two of the four RAM slots are under the keyboard. Has anyone removed the keyboard to install RAM there yet? It looks straight forward, but was it harder than it looks?

Also does anyone know if the OS has to be on one particular SSD slot or will any do?

I always get a bit nervous when removing the keyboard.
