Precision 7530 & Precision 7730 owner's thread

If you run Linux inside of VMware on Windows, you won't be running into these issues, it will run like it does on any other system.

 

Used my 7530 for a day. The fans will ramp up loudly even when I was just extracting some files or browsing the internet. Any way to solve it other than installing a third party fan profile controlling software?

 

Does anyone like 7520 more than 7530? I have both of them in front of me and like the build quality of the 7520 more.

 

Are you worried about fan noise or overheating? Install HWmonitor (free) and check the temps. I bet it's hitting 85C+ during normal office work. That's one of the reasons I returned mine. Could always try repasting the CPU and GPU.

 

It doesn't have problem regarding the temps. Always in the high 40s, and sometimes hitting low 50s, but the fan becomes super loud when the load is increased slightly. Also, sometimes when I watch the video, the fans just spin up for a few seconds and then becomes quiet. I hope dell fix it in the upcoming bios versions.

 

You can install Dell Power Manager and try setting the thermal mode to "quiet".

 

Received my 7530 over the weekend. First impressions are a mixed bag of emotions. The build and performance blew me away. Then comes the display testing and so far I've spotted 3 dead pixels and horrendous back-light bleed on my panel. Coverage of sRGB at 97% and AdobeRGB at 95%, no thanks. I might have been able to live with a few dead pixels since the panel is so sharp I hadn't noticed them from afar, but this is just unacceptable for a +$3500 system. Also the battery health appears to already be 95% (down to 92Whr from 97Whr), anyone know if this is normal? Has Dell's QC really gone down the drain? I have a technician coming Wednesday for onsite replacement of the LCD, we'll have a good talk and I'll update my impression on the new panel then.

My config:

• Intel Core i7-8750H
• 32GB RAM
• 256GB SSD - immediately swapped it to a Samsung 1TB 970 PRO and filled the other 2 slots with 2TB 860 EVO's
• NVIDIA Quadro P3200
• 15.6" UltraSharp UHD IGZO - panel is the SHARP LQ156D1JW02
• 6-cell 97Whr battery

 

It is normal for the battery health to be below 100% when it is new, I think, or at least I noticed that with my system as well.

 

Oh, wow, more bad display impressions...

 

Interesting note: I use mode "optimized" because fan run at lower rpm compared to "quiet" mode.
