Thanks for the suggestion, it's actually powering through the TB18DC dock. I'm not a super-power user for this type of thing, and am nervous to make any adjustments, but I installed Intel XTU to look at the settings and the "Turbo Boot Power Max" was set to 5W ... that seems wrong to me .... does anyone with knowledge of these settings have some feedback? I don't want to stress the system in any way, but would like the highest safe power settings since this machine will be used with Adobe for 4k video editing.

Changing speed back and forth does not change the behavior.

The driver is already the latest available.

Does anybody else see the same behavior when the CPU is running low due to the balanced power plan on battery?

With Precision 7530, I've used it on battery quite a bit without any problems with the touchpad. I'm using the balanced plan with actually very few customizations.

Are you using the current touchpad driver? It was updated a few weeks ago to 10.3201.101.208.

Yes, current driver - I'm looking every day in hope to get updates for the USB stuttering on the TB18.

I am on BIOS 1.2.5 but was the same on 1.1.7.

I made no changes to balanced before. Just when realizing the problem I check settings and set minimum processor state to 50% on battery to keep the ghz up.
Tried resetting the plan which did not help either.

Thanks. I presume that is the Ballistic Sport model: BLS2C16G4S26BFSD ? I read in their reviews they have dual and single track SODIMM and Dells do not seem to play well with the Dual track RAM.

As everyone goes on about latency, what is better for video rendering and picture editing - 2400 CL14 or 2666 CL16? Or would 3200 CL 18 be faster than both of those? Or are we talking milli seconds of difference when rendering?

There's lots of talk about memory latency and eeking out the best speed, but I think that most people will agree that honestly you'd be hard-pressed to notice a difference between something like 2400 CL14 and 2666 CL16 during day-to-day use. It's not going to be a game-breaking difference at all. Go for something that is known to be stable.

As mentioned earlier, you can deduce which is better by doing a simple calculation:

    RAM Speed/CL.

    2400/14 = 171.43
    2666/16 = 166.63

Get the one that's more value for money, as there's about 2–3% speed difference between either.

I noticed a couple of people mention mouse and keyboard lag. I was using a Logitech keyboard and mouse with the little unifying dongle plugged into one of my 7530's USB-A ports and the lag/repeat keys were pretty bad. I switched to connecting the mouse and keyboard by Bluetooth and the issues went away.

I read somewhere that USB 3.0 ports can sometimes cause electrical interference. Could this possibly be the issue? I tried connecting the unifying dongle to a USB hub connected to my thunderbolt 3 dock, but that was even worse.

Odd. I'd expect Bluetooth mice to have more interference, given that both USB and BT operate on the same frequency.
