    Dell 7730.

I have spoken to Dell after I asked them to clarify the M.2 / 2.5" hardrive - 4-cell / 6-Cell battery issues I mentioned yesterday and they have clarified that If I order the 4-cell battery then I will have 3x M.2 PCIe drives and 1x 2.5" drive but if I order the 6-cell then I will have 4x M.2 PCIe drives only. My question had been if I order the laptop with a principle M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD and the 4-cell battery could I have 4 PCIe slots PLUS 1x 2.5" slot but alas, no. It wouldn't be needed anyway as 4 PCIe NVMe slots is more than enough.

I also asked whether I can have the 4-cell and the P4200 or whether the 6-cell battery is needed and they have confirmed that it makes no difference, I can have either battery with the P4200.

When I was doing my config the only time I could not order the 4-cell battery was when I had selected the IGZO screen.

Really looking forward to receiving the machine.

I did all of the steps you mentioned, none of them works. Also bios is the latest release which is even newer. I bought two MicronBallistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2666,now the system run smooth and cool ,and stable.

After I upgraded my ram to 64gb , my 7730can render the window system ui animation perfectly smooth by Intel uhd graphic card. But if only install 32gb ram, it drops frames , by using default 8gb ram shipped with the mechine, the UI animation can be really choppy and sluggish that I have to disable Intel graphics card and only using Nvidia p5200. I notice the choppiness on almost every 4k mechine like xps 15, Lenovo yoga 720 4k, or even surface book 2 13or 15 inches that lots of people complaining online but cant find a way to solve this . Turn out having massive ram can solve this issue because now Intel card have 32gb shared graphic memory. Not sure why it need such a big amount, because it only reserve the space ,not actually using them . The UI animation I refer to three finger swipe up to go into timeline , or even four fingers swipe left and right to switch desktops. The more windows you open, especially uwp windows , the more choppy and sluggish the animation is

Just breaking in a new 7530, with i9 processor. I'm alarmed to find my cpu is throttling to 0.8ghz under very minimal tasks. I have the latest drivers/bios installed, and this doesn't seem normal to me.

Other system details: Quadro P3200, TB18DC Dock, 4k Screen, 32gb memory, Windows 10

Any ideas/suggestions that I might try? Maybe something is set odd in BIOS?

Might sound dumb, but if you haven't tried it, unplug and re-plug the AC adapter. Occasionally I've seen these systems fail to recognize the power adapter and heavily throttle (as if a 65 or 90-watt AC adapter is connected). This has been a rare occurrence for me — I'm talking once or twice per year at worst — but isn't specific to the 7530 (I actually haven't seen it on my 7530 yet), rather going back several generations.

Otherwise, contact Dell support, something is definitely not right there.

Touchpad in 7730 reacts really sluggish when running on battery.

When the CPU goes down to about 1ghz the mouse pointer reacts quite slowly to the touchpad. The mouse stick seems OK.

When I set the power plan to high or tweak the balanced plan to keep the processor at about 55% (CPU stays around 2Ghz) the mouse movement gets normal again. But that of course shortens my battery time quite a bit.

Any idea how that can be fixed with standard settings of the balanced power profile?

I did a clean Windows install, so maybe I am missing a setting from the Dell install state?

I have ordered the 7730 with the P4200 and would greatly appreciate some advice on RAM. I will mainly use the 7730 for video editing (4K and 1920x1080) as well as photo editing and such like. Which of these SODIMM would you recommend:

    1) 32GB HyperX 2400 CL 14

    2) 32GB HyperX 2666 CL15

    3) 32GB G.Skill 3200 CL 18

    4) 32GB Hyper X 3200 CL 20

I have listed 3 HyperX as I have been pleased with them over the years and appreciate Kingston's customer service, but ultimately I want the best for the work I plan to do with the 7730.

I have never used G.Skill and do not really understand what the difference would be between 2666MHz CL15 and 3200MHz CL18.

I do not game at all.

    Thank you..

try go to windows setting, touchpad setting, and change cursor speed , and change it back . this fixed my issue. also make sure you updated the touchpad driver. you can do this by download from dell you go to device manager and right click the touchpad and click update driver, then let it search online. after update, either do what I said , chance cursor speed and change it back, or just restart the system. you dont need the touchpad assisstant app, just fyi
