    Hi SvenC,
I hope it is bad luck. After running the tests a couple of times, I then updated the BIOS then ran the Command Update to update anything else. Those all seemed to get installed. Re ran the test and first time flew through but running it again caused the same blank screen about 20mins into the test at about the same time as the rendering and transformation tests using the AMD Pro GPU.

Any error in the Windows Application oder System event log? Maybe some error from the dGPU driver?

You could check if AMD offers newer driver updates. Some users here with Nvidia said they are using drivers directly from Nvidia instead of those from Dell which tend to be a few releases back. Just in case it is an AMD driver issue when stressing the dGPU.

    Hi everybody.
I also like to share with you about precision 7730 which I got.
I ordered a quite well config to my work with assumption of change memory to 2x16gb 3200mhz and 2x970evo 1tb immediately after I will get my machine. My config:
    I7 8850h
    8gb
    256gb ssd
    P4200
    Igzo 4k
After unboxing I felt very positively of the build quality. Chassis is very good look and rigidity related to quite low weight and dimensions. Also a materials are very pleasant in touch.
Power brick is huge in comparison with my current 130w in dell r17 se but a little smaller than other 240w workstation's adapter's.
And all the good feelings were gone after I opened the lid. At first S key was so faulty mounted that in one corner it was a few millimetres above the rest of the keyboard and opposite below - no possibility to put it correctly.
Next was after I lunched the machine - two death pixels in the middle of the screen and horrible backlight bleeding on the edges plus something like lighter smudges in some places.
But that was not all. Anyway I was try to watch a film in 4k and have to admit that the screen quality is awesome despite this flaws. And during I was watching film I was horrified of the quality of the speakers - especially during the dialogues and others high tones. Speakers were generating distortions as big as literally make squeeze of my brain.
I also performed I few stress tests and with this case I have no objections - machine is blistering fast despite 8gb ram at start.
I was very disappointed with machine and in the next day I returned it and now I'm waiting for the new one.
I hope that it was a single case but after I started to browsing this forum I have started to doubt in this.
My r17 has 6 years but looks and works still perfectly.
If the next machine also will have some drawbacks I will get the money back and rather divorce with precisions brand.
Only regret will be with the additional components which I have bought to expand my 7730...

I received a 7730 in early December, and like you plan to, I added two x 1 TB 970 EVOs, plus I kept the original 256 GB SSD and a large SD memory card installed in the card reader, so I have plenty of storage with room to grow. So far, aside from the rubber mouse pointer falling off and a few BSOD, I've been happy with the machine. I'm a full time photographer and the power of this machine lets me be much more productive than I was with my Dell XPS 15 9550.

Hopefully the new machine you receive will be a good one.

I hope so but after read a few opinions I am concern about it. If not I will try to browse in other premium worskstation's brands but at this moment this precision is closest to my preferences so I will like to stay with this choice. Do You also have a 4k panel and what about Your feelings?

Yes, 4K panel. Unlike other people who have posted about bad panels, I got lucky and received a good one. No major issues with anything other than with Dell's absurd ordering process.

Thanks everyone. That's kind of surprising. I've never gotten any Dell before that had any pieces literally torn like that. They offered a replacement so we'll see what I get next. There were missing screws but none that mattered. Looking at the service manual, the original SSD mount used more screws than the one I got. Mine only needed two screws - that I could tell. I didn't bother taking it out.

I can't tell if the brass looking recepticle (embedded in the plastic case) for the screw was in any way connected to the case ground. Usually The only reason I can think of them designing that strap looking device that comes through the other side of the case and is secured with one of the SSD screws is grounding. So assuming that was the purpose, that's why I accepted their offer for the replacement. But if I completely disassembled the thing I might find that it's just holding down something on the other side.

    Hey guys,
I just wanted to report. After all recent updates my TB18DC dock is finally working as it should. I'm not sure which update did that, but after installing most recent BIOS and dock drivers my power supply through dock is 100% success all the time. The only downside is that it only works when Powershare option in Bios is turned off.

I was one of the first customers with 7730 and dock back in july, and was not 100% happy with both products. I had serious bluescreen error for 2 months whlie turning off premiere pro (VIDEO TDR_FAILURE). I think recent updates from NVIDIA driver worked. Now finally both dock and laptop are functional as they should from the beggining. But man, it took like half a year for software to catch up hardware. I know that I use my gear to its limits, but it should work no matter what and what I payed for. Really disappointed that todays electronics (proffesional!) are made with hurry and not finnished. And I think this is not Dells sole problem. I read a lot Apple forums, and this is same with latest Macbook Pros.

I also wanted to thank all in this thread who participate with their experise and experience. A lot of information is more than I can get directly from Dell resellers and official customer service in my country. Their main solution for problems is product replacement which in software is not the case.

Good to hear. My 7730 and TB18DC have been working relatively well since I got them in November. Some quirkiness (two external monitors daisy-chained through DP blinking at times, USB ports flaking until I power off the dock, etc.) but overall the combo has been decent to me.

I've been getting weekly updates from my contact at the Dell Expert Resolution Center. It's been slow going, but it sounds like they are close to finalizing a BIOS update which will fix the issue with USB power sharing and the dock. Maybe in another month or so this will finally be whacked.
