    I just bought Dell 7530 with i7 8750h and p1000, 256gb ssd + 8gb ram incl 97wh battery. I have few questions :
    1. how to find out the date when started the 3y nbd guarantee?
    2. How many nvme drive I can have? When I put yesterday 2nd nvme drive to the slot on the corner, then the windows could not find it. I moved it to the slot, next to the original ssd, then it was recognized. Do I have to change something in bios to allow the 3rd m.2 slot to work with nvm3?
    3. Is there any disadvantage using gaming ram hyperx impact 2666 cl15 instead normal 2666 cl19?

    1. You can input the Service Tag (found on the bottom panel of your laptop) into this webpage, and all will be revealed.

    2. Hmm, interesting. Can you check if any slots are disabled in the BIOS (Go to System Configuration —> Drives, and ensure all checkboxes are ticked )?

    3. No disadvantage. In fact, chances are you will experience improved performance due to the reduced latency. However, it's worth checking if the RAM is compatible first.

    2. I will check it in the evening. The only one related thing in bios was sata setting, that is set to raid, I will maybe try to disable it - but I don't know if sata is related to nvme

    3. What about ram, how can I check if it is compatible? Some people in this thread spoke about this hyperx impact 2666 cl15, but with no feedback if it is working...

Best way to check compatibility, is to buy from a seller that allows returns & refunds (Amazon, for instance), and actually install and boot up with the RAM installed. Return and ask for a refund if it does not work.

    Hello,

I am in the market for a new workstation laptop. I have found a E-2176M, iGPU-only version, which would be perfect for my workload. It's from the UK Dell outlet. Unfortunately it has no webcam module, which I would need to use from time to time. I am comfortable buying this machine and modding it myself to add the missing webcam module, but I am trying to understand what it would take.

    1. Does no-webcam version of 7530 contain all required cabling? Does eDP cable contain webcam section or would I have to replace it?
    2. Would I need to replace the bazel or is it webcam-ready in all 7530s?
    3. Is webcam module (and if needed also webcam-ready cable/bazel) reasonably easy to source in Europe?
    4. Is there anything else I might have missed?

Please note I just need basic webcam/mic module for Google Hangouts with my co-workers. I don't need IR camera.

    Thank you very much.

    New BIOS today, 1.6.0.

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=g4xyf

    Fixes:
    - Fixes the issue where the mouse lags when the Dell TB16 dock is unplugged or plugged in.
    - Fixes the issue where the system cannot set hard drive password with Dell Client Configuration Toolkit.
    - Fixes the issue where the system always boots to Rufus formatted USB drives instead of internal hard drive.
    - Improves system performance under heavy load when connected to Dell TB18DC Dock.

    Enhancements:
    - Enhanced the security mechanism for Option ROM protection.

    1. I believe that the display cable is different depending on whether you have a webcam or not. They have wrapped the webcam data cable and the display cable together.
    2. You would have to replace the bezel, they don't include the "hole" for the webcam if you don't order one.
    3. No idea about that one, you'll have to check eBay / parts sites and see, usually these parts are easier to find for older machines. If there is a Dell spare parts department number that you can call in your country, you might be able to ask them about it.

I guess there's always the clip-on/USB webcam option until you get it figured out...

That last point is the only one that interests me. Have you any of you installed the update? Is it safe to do so?

Good to know. Are Dell's BIOS updates usually well-tested and reliable?

Generally so but there have been a handful of bad ones. I seem to remember M6600 getting one that caused it to throttle hard when it shouldn't? More recently we had a few M4800s start BSOD'ing regularly when the first update to address the spectre/meltdown vulnerabilities (turns out bad microcode from Intel, they tried to get it out the door too fast without proper testing, though Dell should have followed up with more testing as well).
