Anyone's 7730 come with a mangled piece of metal around this screw that's near the primary SSD mount? Obviously someone in a hurry using a power tool assembled this unit.

I would like to add a WWAN card to my 7530, but there are several different versions of the DW5811e available (1DPXG, 3P10Y, KF1W5, etc). Is there a specific WWAN card that is required, or will they all be compatible?

Mine has exactly the same thing. It's not something you need to worry about, neither is it "sloppy workmanship". I've seen it before in other products from other manufacturers.

I'm not 100% sure what the purpose is, but I suspect it's to prevent over-tightening the screw. Whatever it is, I think it's as intended.

    Hi Folks,
New to the forum but have had various Latitude and Precision Dell laptops for 20 odd years. All the ones for work have been extremely reliable including the latest 5530.
However I bought a Precision 7730 for my son's design and rendering work for Uni having persuaded him how reliable my laptops have been, but as luck would have it, it has been disappointing.
I thought it was a reasonable spec to remain a useful workhouse until well after he finishes his course as follows
    • 7730 with i9 8950HK
    • 4K UHD display
    • AMD Radeon WX Pro 7100 w/8GB
    1. Before doing any real work we ran the Dell Full diagnostics test form their website and found that after the second run through the screen goes blank and machine turns off. Then every subsequent run of the full test the same thing happened usually when it got to stressing the AMD graphics card.
    2. We also noticed that the Bluetooth mouse stop connecting so switched to using the mouse USB dongle.
    3. Then every so often the second M.2 SSD would disappear, rebooting a couple of times then it reappeared.
Has anyone had any issues like these?

WE got Dell to send an identical replacement but that one stopped booting even to the Dell Logo after about 2hrs use :-(
So now waiting for the third replacement... I am slowly coming to the conclusion that maybe best to get a full refund instead...

Actually yes, very similar. I have seen two 7730s with the same thing. One of them had missing screws for the other 3 slots for the M.2 SSDs. They needed two screws but only came with one and when I talked to Dell Tech support, they kind of suggested 'cut backs'. Then when I looked at a more recent 7730, all the screws where present... go figure?!?

Sounds like bad luck. I do not use bluetooth, so can't speak there. But screen and m.2 are absolutely stable for me.

I have iGPU only, so might be something due to AMD, but I guess we would have heard of those problems from other users as well.

Were BIOS and the Intel and AMD drivers all up to date?
