    With the Precision line you have only two options:
    1. With Thunderbolt 3 (which is compatible with USB 3.1 Type-C)
    2. No Thunderbolt 3 (and hence no USB 3.1 Type-C)

    The fact that you see different names (Type-C, Thunderbolt) on the ordering pages, is just Dell being sloppy and inconsistent.

    Thanks Michiko - makes perfect sense now.

    Now trying to decide on the AMD or Intel graphics. I really only need it for the occasional game, so am inclined to go for the AMD (and save money).

    Can anyone comment on the impact on battery of going for AMD vs Nvidia here? For example, I know the nvidia optimus is supposed to switch from built-in to dedicated GPU on demand. Does the same exist for AMD? If not, surely battery would suffer?

    Thanks!

    AMD has a feature called "Enduro" which is similar to NVIDIA Optimus, allowing the Intel GPU to drive the display and the AMD GPU to kick in for graphics-intensive tasks. Both Enduro and Optimus are supported on the 7510/7710.

    Thanks Aaron. I can't quite tell from AMD's marketing stuff/spec sheets - would the AMD FirePro W5170M drive 2 external 4k monitors at 60hz do you know? (via thunderbolt I guess)

    Yes sir, same here in Canada ... I tried to order from the dell.ca site but it gave me the same confusing / negated reference to Thunderbolt3 as you got -
    Under 'Chassis' when customizing, dell.ca explicitly says:
    {Intel Core i5-6300HQ with no Smart Card or Thunderbolt 3 [Included in Price]}

    But there was no other selection available like on the dell.com (USA) site so I selected Core i7 under 'Processors' but that didn't give it to me either ... Instead, the component description from before changed to this negative reference under 'Chassis':
    {Intel Core i7-6820HQ with Smart Card-No Type C [Included in Price]}

    I didn't even know what that meant.
    In the end, any reference to TB3 was lost, even on the Order Summary - Nada.

    So I messaged a DELL customer rep who replied that 'Yes, Thunderbolt3 was available but "he'd have to help me with that"' - (?).

    Jeeze I dunno, it just looks and sounds goofy ... I"ll wait until I can see exactly what I'm going to get in black & white.

    Thunderbolt3 is a major new component and I think that just selecting the components from a list and hoping Thunderbolt3 is in there somewhere won't get TB3 on your 7510 unless you see it explicitly listed on the Review Summary.

    So far only the USA Dell site seems to work right and explicitly shows Thunderbolt3 is included in the build.
