    Well, here are some truths...

An IGZO panel is an evolved form of TFT panel. Its benefit comes from the fact that IGZO as a semiconductor material can be made much smaller than TN circuitry, which allows higher pixel density, less "screen door" effect, which allows more light through requiring less backlight. But since the circuitry is still between layers, albeit thinner, there will be some color "shifting" or darkening as you look obliquely. IPS, or in plane switching, normally would shift less at oblique angles. Theoretically IPS would use more power than a similar IGZO panel, and because the IGZO circuitry is much smaller it should have faster response than IPS. I can see the argument about viewing in a meeting situation, but really - if what's on your screen is so important to your client that image quality is a must, then it should be equally important they are not viewing the screen obliquely anyway! And who works by themselves looking at the screen obliquely anyway?

Dell and Lenovo both tout their new thermal solutions. I can't say which is better having not tested a Lenovo. The exhaust on my 7510 does not get more than warm, even after working for hours. Then again, I'm not smothering the intake against the bedsheets or my lap. The thing is, you have a M2000M that's 45-50W, and the i7-6820HQ that's also 45W despite its 14nm circuitry. I believe future Skylake processors will likely have higher clock speeds and still be 45W parts. So it seems there is some optimization to be done. But vents blowing to the side where my external drive and USB drives are? Not to mention everyone to the side of you watching your screen at an oblique angle...

Right now clock speeds haven't increased significantly over the previous generation, so unless you have software that takes advantage of what new features Skylake offers most performance boosts will be modest, if any. The performance will likely be more with the newer GPUs, Thunderbolt 3 support, and 4 PCIE lanes with the NVME drives.

The keyboard will affect different people different ways. As my work is more graphics oriented with light spreadsheet and document work, it is totally fine. Obviously this can be a nuisance or intolerable to others. One can go and try similar keyboards out and see for themselves (ASUS had a somewhat similar layout, at least mine does.)

As to looks, I've gotten quite a few compliments so far. It looks good without being too boring or flashy. While the soft touch surfaces may show more fingerprints, it provides grip, making it easier to carry; my wife's ASUS is anodized aluminum, and with my dry hands wants to slip out of them. The slight rake front t I back does add to my typing comfort. And while not the deepest travel, I find the keyboard satisfying, though I can type on most anything. I don't mind the bezel either despite the current fad. There's more material to protect it in case of a fall. The bezel is slightly wider at the bottom tHan most, but it's less bending down to read the screen, and the fingers don't block the view when you're in a tight spot where you can't tilt the screen back enough. The hinge holds real well, yet still allows one handed opening. Even opening from one side does not twist the lid noticeably. The latest review of Lenovo's screen is another story.

If you're like me and your last notebook was bought in 2010-2011 then I think either way is a good purchase. If you bought in 2014, you may not notice much of a difference unless you wait a little longer for Thunderbolt 3 and possibly next gen GPU with HBM2 memory.

I am exactly like you. Only my MBP is a bit older than your last laptop. And I never take it to bed.

My biggest fear is that it will BSOD on me all the time. The mac has spoilt me over the years as freezing and such things are practically non existent on macs.
Then again, maybe I should be concerned about Microsoft rather than dell or lenovo.
As to the keyboard home/end issue, I am used to this, it is the same on macs.

I may be mistaken but isn't the IGZO display an IPS one? IGZO isn't a panel type but a technology to get better response times, lower consumption which also result in less weight. Theoretically, that is, as user reports tend not to prove lower consumption, as far as I have read.

IGZO is a semiconductor material that can be made a lot smaller than other materials used. Thus the circuitry is smaller, which should lead to faster response times and less power consumption. But remember a lot of people are comparing 4K IGZO to FHD IPS or even FHD IGZO as far as power consumption. So there is 4x the amount of pixels to drive which does raise the power consumption of the GPU and memory as well

I should add that I also believe the anti glare coating mat be contributing somewhat to the issue. I've tried a few XPS 15s and 13s with the glossy screen and the "color shift" is not as noticeable. Another issue I read about the glossy IGZO display were that the whites were too "hot," and maybe adjusted in the matte non-touch...

I had one BSOD when I didn't configure my NVMe SSD (aftrrmarket) correctly. I did have a couple crashes related to Intel's integrated graphics driver, but Windows recovered almost instantaneously. Macs normally don't have this issue because of their "closed" nature, but with Windows, where the amount of configurations and hardware choices are literally infinite, there will be conflictsome that arise. Small price to pay for the flexibility and freedom of choice. ..

Not sure if they even know.
When I asked end of Dec they said 2-3 weeks.
When I asked mid Jan they said 2-3 weeks.
When I asked today they said 2-3 weeks.
Today I also asked if they were sure it was 2-3 weeks and they said they confirmed it with their manufacturing department.

Same thing happened to me. I literally chat with them each week on the availability and they said the same thing over and over and now it's February. They even told me "I see from your chat history that you are interested in the thunderbolt" (I was like hmmmm...interesting. Do they also keep track that they been telling me the same thing over and over?). I got fed up with that and dont really see a need for thunderbolt for the next few years so I went ahead an placed a reorder this past Friday when there was still a 35% off coupon.

Owners of the version with the Xeon e5-1535M v5 ... can you please comment on the temperatures that it reachs under very high load (stressing the CPU with prime95, cpuburn or something like that).

For how long is it able to run without throttling the cpu frequency?
