Checking the Lenovo site I see that the P50 has 3 options of screen similar to the options of the 7510, but with a difference: the 4K -non touch- screen (any panel could be...) is IPS. The sharp LQ156D1JW02 is TFT

I find my 4K screen to be very bright, though I didn't think so at first. I think the brightness is more a function of Intel's drivers; regardless of whether you have the brightness all the way up you can make it brighter in Intel's settings.

Please correct if I'm wrong. The 4K screen on m3800 is touchscreen with glossy finish. The 4K screen on 7510 is non-touch and matte finish. The change in color from different viewing angle is normal for IPS panels but shouldn't be that severe.

The 4K option for the 7510 wasn't ideal for me because I want touchscreen and glossy finish like the m3800. Also, most of the softwares I use don't scale well for the 4K resolution (fonts and icons are so small). unless doing 4K resolution projects, I didn't see a need for it right now and the 1080p is very good.

I also checked the Lenovo P50. The price seems to be much higher too. If price is not a concern, the P50 may be what u want.

Yet another reason... Just read Microsoft will be cutting off crucial security updates for Win7 to Win8.1 users running on Skylake processors in 18 months, similar I suppose to what they did with WinXP about 2 years ago. Also all future Intel processors MUST run on the latest OS versions.... Part of the blame they say is cost of updating security issues, another part is that Win7 was not really built with future technologies in mind (like Thinderbolt3), though why not leave it to the hardware makers to determine themselves if they will release Win7 drivers?

my main problem is not about the average brightness but about
    1) most important: the narrow viewing angle (which make the screen darker if you are watching not exactly from the front of the screen, and even when you are in front of the screen but watching at one side, the other side appears darker, with lower contrast, which is annoying especially if you are working with white background)
    2) less important (but still annoying on a > 3000 euro laptop): the right side (my right, left considering the screen) is perceptibly darker. I know that some non-uniformity is normal, but in my old latitude with a LGD02D9 panel was below my threshold of detection...
The LGD02D9 also has a much larger viewing angle
I tried to change the settings in order to verify if in different conditions these issues can disappear but there are still there. What settings are you using? I understand that you are satisfied with this screen and that you don't have these issues (in particular the first one), right?

maybe I should ask again the technical service ...

I'm pretty sure the 4K on the M3800 is IGZO as well. The color shift thing could be an issue with the anti-glare coating on the 7510, but I don't find it to be the case. I thought at first that the blacks would "invert" as I moved off-center, but didn't realize that my taskbar on Win10 was actually slightly "transparent."

I'll check again tonight and give you as best a description I can, but no, I do not see the screen darkening as I view off axis. And I usually do at home since I'm working with two machines sometimes, my M6500 on my desk, with the 7510 to the side.

great, this is a good news !
please, confirm also that you have the same panel as mine (LQ156D1JW02), I bought the laptop in Italy, I would like only to be sure that the panels they sell here are the same. In this moment I am working with the 7510 (with LQ156D1JW02) and a latitude E6520 (with LGD02D9) side by side and the difference is impressive when I slightly tilt my eyes respect to the normal to the screen (I also sent the pictures of the two laptops side by side to the technical service, which pushed them to replace the panel, but the behaviour is the same)
