guys I am thinking of buying a 7510, my only reservation are the abrasions (not scratches due to bag use, handling, etc) that it caused on the LCD back panel which is coated with silicon/rubber. Happens to my 7710, anyone here face the similar problems to 7510 ?

The 7510 and 7710 have the same material on the back panel... You'd have the same issue with either one. My 7510 has some minor scuffs on the lid and it's never even been in a bag...

Thanks Aaron for sharing, i think we have the exact same problem, seems no way to avoid this. I have contacted Dell for this and no warranty is allowed despite me stating it as a design flaw of their high end machines. They are good machines but the back cover is something to reconsider..............they do have parts but we have to buy it.

I'd rather have full performance with a scuffed lid, than a nice looking machine that doesn't deliver performance.

I get that this is annoying, but fail to see why it's a dealbreaker.

well i don't think it is a deal breaker but neither it is a good deal, this being Dell's top machine. imagine in the first 6 months of usage of our pride and joy and you see abrasions on the back cover.

I get it but it doesn't bug me much, really. I've never had a laptop that didn't have scuffs of some sort after some use. That said, I hope they choose a different material for the lid after the next redesign.

yeah if they use back the same material of the M4800/6800 would be perfect, even the 3510 does not have this problem being a lesser 3 series Precision model. On +1 for 7510/7710 models, the back cover are solidly built, gets good grip & the carbon fiber does look unique, overall a near perfect machine.
