The drivers on Windows Update are pretty current and should get you working, you can update whatever you like though. I generally keep the Intel and NVIDIA drivers updated with whatever is on their sites.

SATA-type M.2 drives work as well as PCIe-type drives. One of the extra SATA ports is for the eSATA available on the e-port dock.

The RAM you opted for is fine.
As for your question, I'd say it's down to your usage. Go check this 950pro anandtech review http://www.anandtech.com/show/9702/samsung-950-pro-ssd-review-256gb-512gb
And see if you'll benefit from the extra speed.
Also, personal advice : see if those extra 40$ won't be better spent on additional 8GB of RAM. Same here, that's down to your usage.

The pair of SSD are here on my desktop. Can't even test them...
But my current 256GB 810 already is night and day versus any HDD I ever had. So I'm pretty confident they will perform just fine to blow me away :)

Now. This screw thing. Ho my... Do we really have to buy this ? Not that long ago we were getting a truckload of useless screws and cables and other tiny things. I do hope the 7510 arrives with this screw in place, waiting for the SSD to be locked in place.

Thx again. This sounds pretty reasonable to me and in line with what I experienced with my current and previous laptops.
For some reasons, video drivers seem more "sensitive" to me (as well as being very rarely updated officially by laptop vendor...)

The 7510 comes with a heat shield thing over the M.2 port which is held in place with a screw (included). If you put the M.2 drive in and then put the heat shield in place, it seems to be completely secure, that's how I've been running mine. (But there is a place for another screw, not included, to secure the M.2 drive without the heat shield.)

Thx. I'll check the user manual one more time and decide if I have to "invest" in a single ... screw

Thanks for the input, I think I will be happy with the 850 M.2 and 16GB of RAM in total for now. The nice thing is that its easy to upgrade :)

Lemme us know how the screw research goes! I can be a coinvestor if needed :D

For screws: McMaster.com. Their search filters are great

    Hey guys,

My 7510 arrived but it has a slight coil whine to it, only heard if you put your ear at the bottom of the laptop..

Has anyone encountered this issue? I have the 6820HQ.. I had the same issue on the returned Latitude 5000 series with the same CPU :S

So in real use you'd need an ear on your crotch to be bothered by this? Sounds like a non issue.

More of less you are correct. It does become noticeably audible from a distance when under slight load once plugged into the AC.

Just seems annoying after spending what seems like a fortune on a workstation.
