Hey guys, I ordered my 7510 and it comes with the basic 45% gam 1080p display.. Do the base config come with the carbon lid?

Any recommendations for the first upgrade?

    Spec: 6820HQ2.5" 256 SSD/8GB RAM/1080P/W5170M

Is 64GB overkill? I already have a spare 32GB DDR4 Crucial kit and was tempted to by anther kit to make it 64GB

Just out of sheer curiosity, does anyone know if the WWAN port is PCIe or mSATA? There was a time when Dell had models of their lines with mSATA/PCIe hybrid ports which allowed you to plug an mSATA SSD into an unused WWAN port. It was never advertised as such, it was just "there".

You cannot use the WWAN port for a mSATA drive in the 7510. I don't think the connector is physically the same anymore, but even if it is, there is no SATA interface for that slot like there was in the M4600-M4800.

Dell order site has stopped offering FirePro for M7510.

update: disregard this, AMD option is still there but only the first configuration on customize and buy page.

I'm on the paranoid side, I personally wouldn't use anything less than the 180W adaptor that comes with the machine.

Isn't there a small chance that the machine will start drawing more current than what the adapter is rated for and cause things to heat up, adapter in particular? Heard this somewhere, is this true or is this broscience?

Do you guys know if the optional Thunderbolt 3 port is USB 3.1 gen1 (5Gb) or gen2 (10Gb)? Thanks.

Gen2 - if a USB-C port is equipped with TB3 it always has USB 3.1 Gen 2 as well - as far as I know.

A 90w adapter can get pretty hot with an m6800 - a few times it even stopped until it cooled down a bit. 130w is pretty OK except for the CPU throttling which can be worked against with ThrottleStop.

Looking back to Bokeh's M6600 review where he tries a few different power supplies and measures the power draw... The Precision is generally conservative with the power draw when you are using a low-powered adapter, which is why you get such severe throttling (worse than running on battery). See http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-warning-large-pics-personal-opinions.597919/, go down to the section labeled "Power adapters".

That said, all bets are off if you are changing the behavior with ThrottleStop.
