This is fine. For best results, use RAM with the same timings (CAS latency, etc.) in addition to the same speed. You can download CPU-Z to get the timings of your current RAM. If your timings are wildly different, the system may not be able to find a way to get the modules working together at the highest speed, so you may be bumped to a lower speed.

Is it safe ? As in "will it work" ?
Then as a general rule, yes, you can mix stick sizes, and even run in dual channel in this setup, as long as both pairs of dram modules have the same characteristics (timings and operating voltage).

Now, you'll end up with different dram modules (2 + 2) and this can make dram auto configuration to fail. Or to be sub optimal. Not sure there is a way to know how the 7510 will behave with your configuration. So you should give it a try first. Run memtest to be sure the setup is stable (first with old config, then with new ram installed). But be ready for some disappointment in case perfs or stability is not as expected.

Thanks for the input guys. Changing the plan a little bit and getting the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM instead. It should also make it easier if ever I decide to go 32GB in the future. And though I probably wont see the difference, its faster too than the Kingston ones. :)

Just to clarify my point, I would prefer to purchase 2400/2666 sticks to stay with my preferred brand (Corsair Vengeance, with 2133 all they have is their economy line).

Searching through the thread I found a couple people who got 2400/2666 sticks to work @ 64GB, is this still true with the latest BIOS version?

    hi guys

has anyone been able to confirm that usb-c port they have is 10GB/s? I did tests on mine and I can't even get to 400MB/s, while friends dell 9550 gets 540MB/s on a ssd in a docking station.

windows 7 pro, btw, not 10

    Kinda lost here.

I can't think of any means to test the limits via thunderbolt3. How are you testing that you get 400MB/s ? Most external devices have a bottleneck cap well below thunderbolt 3 max speed.

    hi

2 ways: using usb 3.1 docking station (sabrent) - and using a 10GB/s usb-c external enclosure (cheapie off ebay). I confirmed that enclosure maxes out at 540MB/s on dell 9550

Okay I understand you . The precision, via USB-C is not even giving the 540MB/s SSD speeds that you were seeing when previously connected on different laptop. Curious

    yes, there are 3 possibilites

7510 is not 10GB/s when they assure me it is
i use windows 7 and 9550 was windows 10 (but they stated it gets 10GB/s on windows 7)
    some other software/hw issue/interaction

    Hi,

I just got my 7510 with Sharp IGZO UHD anti-glare panel (LQ156D1) and I am shocked by how narrow the viewing angles are... When i move my head a little bit from side to side i can see a significant brightness/contrast degradation, like it was 10 years ago on TN panels. It is especially noticable in programs with bright single-color backgrounds, like Notepad, Eclipse, web browsers, etc. (basically most of the programs). And there is no position within about 3 feet from the screen where i can move my head and see the brightness evenly distributred.

The laptop specs are very good for the price so I don't want to return it back. But the issue is very annoying and disturbing! Even though I don't work with graphics and my screen requirements are not that high I still doubt there is any chance I can get used to such a thing in the future...

    So here are my questions.

    1. Have any of you guys ever seen two LQ156D1 panels, one of which was bad and the other was good?
In other words should i even try to get my panel replaced by Dell or it won't be any better?

    2. Are FHD panels they put in other 7510 configurations compatible with my 7510 UHD laptop?
(Probably not, because the FHD ones have 30-pin connector while the UHD has 40-pins...)

    3. Are there other compatible UHD or FHD panels with proven quality on the market?
    (Any of these? http://www.panelook.com/adsearch.php?op=TFT-LCD-Module&st=0&pl=&panel_size_inch=15.6&resolution_pixels=38402160&production_state=-1)

    Thanks!
