Guess both.. CPU and VRAM, VRAM speed are all behind what After Effects require for their animation rendering.
Everything will slow down if you have 10 minutes+ animation with lots of things going on.
I guess it needs graphic cards like K5000M minimum but I gave up on M6600 series because M6600 is too heavy. It's a huge piece of metal that isn't suitable for backpacks.

I would disagree with you there, I had my m6600 for a few years and took it to Korea, hong kong and back to the US. I sold it after the 7970m failed to install.

If the RX 560 doesnt work I will probably get a y410p instead. theres one on ebay for 275 and I can get a lot of function out that.

If y410p is $270, it sounds like a good deal for 4th gen i7 quad core!
I will look into that because M4800 is minimum $380 or $400.

    I'm looking into M4700 & M1000M combo too because M1000M is only $100 now and it's a killer card.

I think 17 inch is too big & heavy to carry around everyday...
Even M4600 is still a bit heavier for daily use but I'm sticking with it for its durability and stability.

Lenovo are quality laptops but they're fragile and weaker in general. I had E555 before.. paid $799 as new but I found M4600 I bought for $165 on ebay is better.
Lenovo laptops quickly become cheaper. E555 now sells for $120 used on Ebay though it's 3 years old (2015 release).
My E555 died because its CPU fan failed and I didn't want to take risk on replacing it. I sold mine for parts for $60.

lenovo w540 is their M4800 counterpart but w540 is too expensive... ($500+).
W540 comes with better battery life than M4800 though. It can use their 9000mAh extended battery.

All of these M4600, M4700, M4800 don't seem to last more than 2 hours.. I need to plug all the time.

I dont like the y410p's keyboard or the touchpad or the heatsink. I just want the secondary streaming machine for the AW17 and I also have the 755m5 (SLI), 170w brick, spare 1080p panel, extra drives, and also the ultrabay pcie x16 adapter.

Just makes more sense than to continue investing into my m4600 at this point.

Try M4700 & M1000M. M1000M is 50% faster than M5100.. I don't see how you guys are not interested in that combo when M1000M only can be found in laptops priced over $1,200+
None of cards in non-workstation lenovo laptops will beat M1000M.

    A quick question.

Which M4600 battery has the longest battery life?
Mine lasts only one hour max now.. I'm looking to upgrade.

    This one looks nice:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-9Cell-...806777?hash=item23728ea6b9:g:qggAAOSwzJ5Xbf5B

If battery manufacturers try now, I'm sure they can make 20,000mAh battery for M4600.
8,000mAh was max capacity they could cram in during 2011.
It's been 7 years.. and now even smartphones come with 4,000mAh battery.
They can do 20,000mAh for this amount of space available in M4600 if they try.

You will have to remove the GPU if you want better battery life Enduro is not supported

I dont need a workstation, and I can get better functionality from a y410p while being lighter.

I dont fall in the same scenario where this is the main machine so my perspective looking in will be different.

Laptop battery capacity is not going to be increasing any further for this type of system. You will see that these batteries have been sitting just a bit below 100 Wh for many years. The reason for this is that there are regulations regarding bringing devices with a battery capacity of greater than 100 Wh on planes, it requires special permission and it is simpler to just totally avoid the issue.

That's a good point - i recall AvE over on Youtube mentioning something about this, regarding the new-fangled DeWalt "FlexVolt" 60V batteries.
