    Hi guys again!
The last time I visited the thread was in April and since then you have made a lot of progress! My compliments! So I ask you the same question then, hoping for a new answer and hope ... Thanks !!
Finally is there the possibility to upgrade a so built M4600 full working laptop:??????????
    i7 2820QM CPU
    2000M GPU (06CW3P heatsink)
    8 GB DDR3 SODIMM
    500 GB HDD
    128 GB Crucial M4 SSD
1920 x 1080 IPS Screen (LG Philips LP156WF3, aka LGD0308, Color Bit Depth: 10 Bits according to HWiNFO64)

    Thank you in advance!!!!!!!

Well, if you have need for it, there's definitely room to add more RAM.

CPU wise, not much to do, since the XM ones are expensive, and they seem to power-throttle in these machines, under full load.

And as you might've read in the last few pages, we're (eagerly) looking forward to hearing results about the potential GPU upgrade to that GeCube RX560.

    Thanks KhronX, great information !!

I'm interested both in the memory and mainly in the updating of the GPU and up until now the fact of having an IPS display seemed to limit the upgrade a lot. Instead now, in the last pages, it seems almost more advantageous for the update!

    Great!!

I hope in the developments that among the participants like Valuxin are taking forward !!

    Hey guys,

Can you guys confirm W5170M works on M4600?

W5170M is now about $75 on Ebay... and it's 20% better than M5100.

    gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-FirePro-W5170M-vs-AMD-FirePro-M5100-FireGL-V/m67974vsm12267

I would buy W5170M if it works fine on M4600.
W5170M is on par with K4000M which works on 17 inch models like M6600, M6700.

    http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-Quadro-K4000M-vs-AMD-FirePro-W5170M/m8941vsm67974

So it's like smaller version K4000M. It's not better than K5000M but for $75, it's a great deal.

I think a guy on this forum was using W5170M on his M4600.

It works but its the same chip as the m5100 iirc

I dont know if @valuxin had to perform anything additional to get his working in the m4600

Also unless I misunderstood something my m5100 out benches the w5170m due to the memory.

    Great,

    Given that 20% performance boost, W5170M is a good option now... and it's newer. m5100 (2013) vs w5170m (2014)
Grab it for only $75 on Ebay.
    If RX 560 somehow doesn't work, I'm going for W5170M 4GB version.

Is there any update on RX 560 MXM? I'm amused by so low interest in this MXM card which is apparently on par with GTX 1050 Ti at fraction of its cost...

For all we know he could be tinkering with it right now. Who knows...

I dont know about that 20% given its the same chip though...

    Check comparisons here:

    https://technical.city/en/video/FirePro-W5170M-vs-FirePro-M5100

For $75, I think it's smarter to go with W5170M.

W5170M's clock speed is much faster.. in 3D performance, W5170M is 40% better than M5100.

Just looks like a core frequency difference to me.

    775Mhz vs 925Mhz

Ceiling is the same on both since both are based on the same chip, the HD 7750 iirc.

but by all means go for it, not much more than the m5100.
