    Mmmm ... Excellent.

By golly I think your right ... Like ygohome said in a previous post - Give 'em a comfortable place to work, lots of light ask some questions and if I don't like what I see - say something - It's my laptop ... My money -

Thank you for the encouragement Aaron

If anyone is curious, here is a screen shot from when I did the bios upgrade on Monday. It shows the version numbers.

I went from 1.3.12 to 1.4.8 and my drives are set for RAID.

Dell's high complexity team reviewed my fingerprint reader and decided they want to analyze my laptop to ensure this doesn't happen again. They offered to send me a new 7510 and give me a shipping label to send it to their support center.

Now I have to wait 7-10 more business days :(

I received this error while not really doing anything in particular... I had Visual Studio 2013 open and a Chrome browser. I was scrolling through the browser at the time the BSOD appeard. The Nvidia GPU was dormant and I was only utilizing the Intel GPU.

    IMG_20160328_232931~2.jpg
It is tied to the iGPU I believe. I am running the intel driver 20.19.15.4390 which was added to Dell's list of downloadable drivers on Mar 17. Intel doesn't even display that 20.19 version anywhere on their website. All of Intel's drivers start with 15.40. Their latest driver for our skylake iGPUs is version 15.40.18.4380. They have a beta driver out of version 15.40.18.4404.

Anyway, I'm still at the older BIOS 1.3.12. I understand that the 1.4.8 BIOS updates the Intel Video Bios. Sooo, if I get this BSOD error again then I may reverting to an older driver version. Else I may try the 1.4.8 BIOS

Has anyone else received this error? This is the first time I received it in the two or three weeks I've had this laptop. Although on March 18 is when I installed the current driver from Dell's website (20.19.15.4390) so perhaps the error is related to that specific driver.

    Thanks

Just a little update on my week-old 7510.

So, my nice 1920x1080 IPS screen has a single dead pixel. I called Dell ProSupport yesterday about 8:30pm ... I got connected immediately and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised ... Support was very helpful and getting a replacement screen was absolutely no problem at all ... I'll let you all know how that all goes down.

Oh, BTW - I installed the Samsung 950PRO 256GB NVMe M.2 SSD ... I used AHCI mode to clean install Windows8.1 and had no problems - The Factory HDD is in a box. I was surprised when I ran Samsung Magician Benchmarks and the benchmarks were slightly higher than nominal when using the plain old Microsoft Standard NVMe driver.
Later, I installed the Samsung NVMe driver and the benchmarks dropped very, very slightly - What? Not significant but really why bother with the Samsung driver.

I notice that it takes about 19 sec. to boot - Timed from pushing the power button to the desktop. There's no password so it boots straight to the desktop ... Most of the time is spent before the OS even starts to load ... OS loading itself seems fast enough ... I have Fast Startup enabled in Setup and Windows ... Afterwards, I uninstalled Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) which didn't seem to make any difference.

I dunno, 19 sec is kinda long. My Asus N56JN (i7-4700HQ & regular SSD) boots up in about 9 seconds!

    I'm still on the v1.3.12 BIOS - I've read that v1.4.8 boots faster - I hope so.

No regrets yet, I still love this laptop and no other issues so far.

is there a Dell software that will simply display on screen if I've activated numlock or not? Similar to the earlier Dell Quickset software in earlier laptops. There is an LED indicator for the capslock key and the Microphone (F4) key, but no LED to indicate if I have NumLock enabled or disabled. strange ommision. I often like to use the 10keypad's HOME, END, PAGEUP, PAGEDOWN. But I have to sometimes correct myself if I forget if I've enabled or disabled the NumLock. thanks

*edit: I've downloaded and installed this and works fine so far Win10 The indicators in the notification trey are easy for me to see at a quick glance

    @ygohome,

That's a great find - Thank you for sharing
    .
BTW - You're right ... screen replacement is not a big deal any more.

Since I'm really fussy when it comes to repairs I had Tech Support just send out the replacement part for a self-install. The part arrived today so firstly I checked to make sure the part numbers matched ... Next, the bezel snaps off easily by hand - only held in place by clips and a sticky surface then 4 screws to remove the screen and a single connector ... It went back together just as easy ... No scratches, broken parts or missed screws.

Funny though - I haven't had a dead pixel on a screen for ? - What, maybe 10 years ... I thought they were a thing of the past.
Anyway, I'm pretty happy now ... all pixels are working just fine

In comparison to my Asus N56JN with a Samsung panel, I will say my 7510 with the LG panel does show a bit of the "Screen Door" effect as someone has already mentioned.

Both panels are IPS FHD but at the distance I sit back I don't actually see it so not a major issue. That being said, it's not the greatest panel on a very high-end notebook.

Changing subject - I bought an adapter to see if my Type C Thunderbolt3 port is working as a USB port. The adapter was about $15 or so ... a simple passive Type C <> to USB3.0 Type A ... When I plug in a USB3.0 flash drive - Nothing happens ...
I thought the Thunderbolt3 Type-C port was also supposed to support USB3.1 and be backwards compatible - No?

    Like this article says: http://www.extremetech.com/computin...its-way-alongside-usb-3-1s-10gbit-performance

... Or maybe I'm reading something into it.

Thanks for the information on the screen repair. To clarify, you removed the bezel and replaced just the panel and not the entire lid/screen enclosure, correct? If so, from which way do you pull the bezel to remove it?

I agree that this screen has a prominent screen door effect, but I was wondering if a manual upgrade to a higher quality panel would be possible, given it uses the same connector. From what it sounds like, it might be.

Regarding the type C port, I just plugged in my Nexus 6P into it using the included Type C to USB 2.0 Type A cord and it worked... so I'm not sure why 3.0 wouldn't work either.
