Contracted by Dell, onsite tech dispatch is supposed to be very proficient and professional. They usually are 9 out of 10 times in my experience. But I remember a grumpy cantankerous old man who was dispatched to my home one time to replace the palmrest and trackpad (this was in 2010 for my m6500). He may have been drunk. Terrible. I left him alone as he performed the repair. The anti-social "forgot" to re-apply screws and broke the mechanical wifi switch/lever. After he left I called Dell and complained. They took note and then dispatched a tech to fix what the other guy broke. Same guy returned next day to fix the switch. lol.

Since then I've had very excellent and professional on site repair experience. And they have been pleasing to work with. I do a little interview before I let them work on it. I ask if they've worked on the model laptop before and how high is their confidence to perform the work. Blunt questions, not rude questions. They know their work is going to be critiqued. I prepare a good working area with good lighting and I sit down next to them and watch everything. I think they appreciate my interest in their work. lol.

On new systems like this though, chances are they've only read the user repair manuals that we can download from Dell's website. If they are professional, work cautiously/slowly, and care about their work, then scratches, forgetting screws, breaking stuff... that should never happen. I'm glad they corrected it by letting you return it.

Anybody know which driver package I can download to correct this Broadcom USH?

I thought it was related to the internal smartcard reader. I do not have a fingerprint or FIPs reader.

I downloaded and applied the "Dell Data Protection | Security Tools" dated 2/9/2016 which installed smartcard reader, FIPS, fingerprint drivers. But the orange triangle remains. I hesitate reinstalling all of the Dell Data Protection (Endpoint Security Suite; Encryption). But maybe I need to if I want to resolve this. Thanks

I don't think that the Dell Data Protection package you mentioned is what you want (I've never installed this). You want to install the ControlVault drivers, which is where the fingerprint and smartcard reader drivers come from. I think that will take care of your device driver issue here.

This package doesn't install anything but drivers as far as I can tell (no apps or services). Windows 8.1+ includes support for talking to the smartcard reader or fingerprint reader without additional software.

    [Edit]
Note, there's also a firmware update for ControlVault. This normally won't install until after the drivers are installed. I've never installed it on a system without a fingerprint reader but the notes say it applies to the whole platform which includes NFC and the Smartcard reader.

    thank you. right on.

It was the ControlVault2 driver that resolved the Broadcom USH
    Capture.PNG

and I installed the firmware update for good measure

I also ran Dells "Security Detect" from their website to see what it would say... it also pointed to the ControlVault2 drivers needing to be updated (but they pointed to the older Nov 2015 version).

    problem solved. thank you.

I've uninstalled the dell data protection packages which I think has more to do with encrypting a drive

Re: Does Thunderbolt 3 show up anywhere? I can' find it in Device Manager ...

Thank you so much for that info.

I do have that software installed but don' t know about the firmware.

BTW, I did find a reference to Thunderbolt - It runs as a 'Service' and is listed in the Services Console with the default start-up type as <Manual>.
Just for fun, I set it to <Start> <Running> to see if that might trigger it to show in Device Manager and set 'View Hidden' but no - it doesn't show up there.
Since you have the same scenario I'm confident it's there - too bad I have nothing to test it with yet.

I just checked device manager and under System Devices, third from the bottom is "Thunderbolt(TM) Controller - 1575"

Edit: Shows when TB15 is connected. Does not show when it is not connected.

I do not have a thunderbolt device yet to test this. But I wonder if it appears in your device manager under System Devices because you are actually utilizing that thunderbolt port at the moment? If you remove the thunderbolt cable would it still appear in device manager under System Devices?

Yikes! - Like I don't have enough to worry about ...

So I have this single dead pixel on my screen ... About 2" from the top and about 4" from the left side. Then there's this 'Premium Panel' Guarantee ... But I need a lot more dead pixels to qualify:

    http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/SLN130145

I dunno folks, my Precision 7510 is great - I love it ... No issues and no complaints so far ... ... But I have this dead pixel in my lovely "15.6" UltraSharp FHD IPS (1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit, with camera and microphone" screen.

Even 'IF' I complain loudly and can get a replacement screen which will be a big repair job and provide lots of opportunity for a bad outcome - I don't know if I should even do it ... Heck, it's only been 2 days so I've got some time left to make the decision.

    ... But it bugs me.

If it bugs you, get them to fix it. When I got my 1720 it came with a dead pixel and I called and had it fixed the next day, and that machine did not even have a "premium panel guarantee". I had the screen on my M6700 replaced twice, once right after I got it and again a year or so later (something that looked like a smudge appeared under the top layer). No big deal, just pay attention when the tech is working.
