    (Drive-by emotions? :()

For future reference, some specific keyboard layout criticisms were given in the "M6900 - What specs are you hoping for?" thread this week, so perhaps the above comments implicitly refer to one or more of these.

I guess, with enough effort, you can get used to almost anything.

But for a laptop that costs me an arm and a leg, I don't really want to...

Winger - how firm is this launch date? Is this just for UK-Europe or should it also apply to the USA?

Uhm, as "firm" as the previously announced date of 15/10, so I wouldn't bet on that. Both dates came from our business account manager @ Dell, he has checked with the marketing dept. That's UK, no idea about rest of the world...

I think most of us would like to see the complete specs and config options.

I was very excited about what has become the 7710 (not the M6900), but have become a little less so since the initial announcements were made. I will be very carefully comparing the P70 in terms of specs, as well port options and location, and upgradability in parts - and that is something I never thought I would say.

My M6600 has served me well and to be honest, I thought moving to the M6900 (or 7710 now) would be a given. Maybe not.

Aside form the fact that I could use a little more portability, your post could be mine. I never thought I would do it but I'm actually considering a Lenovo P50.

Im in the same boat - 7710 vs P70 (no other manufacturer can touch the specs of these machines) but, as usual, the details will determine which one to choose. I'm especially interested in whether the 7710 actually has 2 - 2.5" bays for internal SSD's (that could be setup in RAID 0) in addition to the 2 M2 PCIE slots that could also be setup in a separate RAID 0 and whether the PremierColor display will be superior to the display of the P70 which has a built in calibrator. There are conflicting reports as to whether there are 2 internal HD bays on the 7710 (the P70 does have 2 if you eliminate the DVD/CD slot).

Hopefully these questions will be answered in the next couple of weeks as both are expected to go "live" within that time frame .

Raid 0 for spinners you would see a gain. Raid 1 or no raid for SSDs IMO.
