I appreciate the prompt response. Nice new webpage that I hadn't seen before - the first page with video.

I assume then that the first units (with TB3) will be in customer's hands by the first or second week of February. Do you think the new Xeon option(s) and 64GB ECC RAM will be available or will that be staged for a later update?

We'll the positive for me at least is by then hopefully the new HP Zbook Series specifically the Zbook 17 inch workstation will be out and all of the Lenovo P70 specs and configurations should be on the Lenovo site. As from what I gather and I could be mistaken the current configuration is not complete. I don't think there is PCIE SSD available yet on their website (I have to check again to verify). Also, the new ASUS N series hopefully will be available (I don't think I will be getting that notebook though) Anyway I compare the 3 workstations and make a decision.

You may want to use the 950 as the primary drive... installation is easy if you're comfortable with tiny screws. After you remove the battery cover and battery, there are 2 screws that hold the rear panel, which slides off afterwards. The M.2 slot resides under a shield held by 1 screw. Note the screw to hold the M.2 SSD is NOT included with the computer nor drive so you have to source one.

After you reverse everything and start Windows you won't see the drive until you go into drive manager and assign it a drive letter.

Should be able to download the owners manual from Dell which illustrates the installation part.

Thank you. I do not need to install a driver or change bios setup? I will use it to store information not as a booting drive.

No driver needed, don't need to change BIOS but you can check (F2 on boot) to make sure the drive is detected.

I tried this on an XPS 15, and had to import the Intel Rapid Storage driver during Windows 10 install to get it to recognize the drive.

Unfortunately, I'm only seeing about 800 MB/sec write and read speeds under Windows 10 (Samsung Pro 950 512GB). I am running the latest Intel driver and tried to install the Samsung NVMe driver--but it said it could not find a Samsung NVMe drive.

Are there extra steps, after installation of Windows, to get the drive to run at full speed? BIOS is set to RAID and the drive details appear in BIOS boot sequence.

Are you utilizing the RAID at all? If not, if you set the BIOS to AHCI (I'm assuming that is an option on the XPS 15) you might be happier. You won't need to load the Intel driver at Windows setup and you won't have the Intel RAID stuff between Windows and the drive.

To switch the mode without BSOD on next boot on Windows 8/10:
    * From Windows, hold the "Shift" button while you click the "Restart" option from the start menu. This will prepare Windows to reboot and show you the boot options menu.
    * While Windows is rebooting, go to the BIOS and switch the disk controller mode.
    * When booting up the Windows boot options will appear --- boot to safe mode. (Windows will notice that the disk controller has changed and install drivers.)
    * After safe mode boots successfully, boot to normal mode.

Is it possible to enable HDD Password (storage hardware encryption) in Precision 7510 or 7710 with PCIe NVMe SSD? Any of you have such option in BIOS?
