What are the specs on the M5100? I couldn't find anything on google. I'm wondering how much of a jump up it is from the M4000.

IPS is confirmed in the M4800 for 1080P or were you talking about the IGZO screen?

My guess: M5100 is like previous M6000 but with reduced clock speed. Either that or an overclocked M4000. In both cases a minor improvement unless it has 800 stream processors or more in mxm-a form factor.

IGZO can be IPS? idk, the termelogoy is confusing but the 3200 x 1800 was once called ips .

    1080p probably remain TN.

Yes, IGZO 3200x1800 is IPS. The 1080p panel might also be IPS but not RGBLED. More likely around 100%sRGB.

I have a special wish for these new Precisions - to have constant fan speeds and not cycling them on/off. Only reason why I bought lenovo instead.

You can change the way the fans work if you really want to. It takes some effort but definitely possible. If you want to, you can use software like HWinfo64 to set specific fan profiles or simply force certain frequencies. I wouldn't turn away just because the fans are cycling on/off.

Here is an information sheet from Dell about the M4800. I think it's official, but I can't find it on Dell's own website.

It's interesting to note that, unlike the M3800, the M4800's 3200x1800 screen does not appear to have multitouch. Instead it appears to be an anti-glare display. :)

Also, here is a Dell blog post about the new IGZO displays.

What would be the reason the IGZO display is not available on the 6800, is this a technical or marketing issue?
