I doubt it. Most of the professional crowd will stick with 7 and those with 8 get a free upgrade anyway. It's in Dell's best interest to get these out before other vendors, especially Apple. If Apple doesn't release an updated MB at their event next week, then push back everything till mid-October. Most likely a supply constraint from Intel impacting everyone.

Anyone saying otherwise is just spreading rumors who heard from a friend, who heard from a rep, who read on the internet, who got tired of people asking and just made something up.

I would be really disappointed if Dell did not offer the IPS screen.

Doubt it. All vendors are switching over to eDP screens from LVDS. I don't know if there are any high gamut eDP panels on the market right now, so that could be the reason. There are plenty of great high res IPS panels covering 100%sRGB but no aRGB, not even close.

The viewing angles and color of IPS are great. Is there any other type of screen that comes close? I've gotten so many compliments on how good my screen looks from passerbys.

Is it 2 or 4 lane eDP? I think the new ultra high res panels are 4 lane and use about 30volts for backlight.
