Congratulations with your new monster - and super thanks for the benchmarks! Keep 'em coming :D

The reason you only get 5.9 in WEI mem score is because you only have 4gb - if you get 6+ it will rise ... this was tested in the start (within the first 20 pages) of the thread :)

    Got mine today!

Just finished installing everything for the day. I have to say the speed of this thing in just normal operation is amazing. I opened every program one after another and not a hint of slowing down. Photoshop opens at least 6 times faster.

The construction seems more rigid than my m90 and i love this backlit keyboard.

My only complaint is that the color and screen brightness seem way off.

Wondering if anyone had there M6500 orders recently canceled because of a compatibility problem between the Intel 5300 Wireless network card and Windows 7 x64 Ultimate? My sales rep called to report that the factory tech reported a problem with this configuration, and he had to swap out the network card with the Dell WLAN 1510.

Being computer literate, it doesn't make sense... the 5300 is a pretty stable piece of hardware.

The only theory I have is perhaps there could be a problem with 5300's and Dell's ControlPoint software? I was at CES last week, and one of the displays at Intel's booth was for a feature called "Personal Area Networking", which is a driver level feature being added to the new 6000 series WLAN cards; AND the new 5300 driver; due at the end of this month (possibly the source of the problem?)

For the troubles my sales rep upgraded my M6500 to the Extreme i7-920M (originally I ordered the 820M) and knocked off a few hundred more dollars. Also had the rep send my a 5300 card as a standalone part for me to add myself (it was only 35 bucks) which should be here tomorrow.

Unfortunately my M6500 Covet has now been delayed AGAIN (1/28/10). But I guess getting a i7-920M ugprade; with the 8GB 1333 RAM, 128 SSD, 320 HDD, and other assorted fix'ns for $4878 (including tax) isn't a bad deal... I priced it out normally without the discounts, and its around $6300; NOT including tax (which would probably push the total to just shy of $6900 with tax)

MaxSten,Thank you for telling me, it is just so weird because I see lots of review about laptop with 4gb runninng 64bit OS, they will get 7 or more.

Dtwn, the resolution for the 3dmark06 I tested was 1280 x 1024, I tested 3dmark06, everst and spec under xp 32bit.
I think the score will rise if I run them under win7 64bit. Only test spec 3dsmax-04, the score from 43 goes to 49:)

Spirakill, have you installed the driver for Mass storage controller? Could you check your ACPI list, do your system have Slic? Thanks

Bokeh reported (earlier in this thread) that there was an issue with the NVIDIA driver adding too much digital vibrance. When he disabled the NVIDIA color controls the display colors were more accurate and he was able to successfully calibrate the display.

Maybe Bokeh can provide more details about how he disabled the NVIDIA color controls?

Edit: Here is Bokeh's post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5722825&postcount=700

Does anyone know if either the ATI or Nvidia cards support audio over displayport? Ati should be able to I think, not sure about Nvidia though. Did anyone try the displayport to hdmi connector to see whether it supports audio?

Just to be safe : only the edge to edge display is glare-type right?

Yes there is audio support when using the displayport to HDMI connector.
Yes the Edge to Edge is the only TrueLife/glossy type display the M6500 has.

The ATI spec sheet says "displayport with audio": http://www.amd.com/us/products/note...00/hd-4830-4860/Pages/hd-4830-4860-specs.aspx

Edit: Firepro 7740m is based on HD Radeon 4860 (but uses different drivers), which is why I linked to the 4860 specs, they were easier to find than specs for the 7740.

    Yes, edge-to-edge is "glare type."

Do this at your own risk. If any of this looks like greek to you, don't do it. These instructions assume that you have a good understanding of startup programs and services. Incorrectly changing startup or service settings could lead to unanticipated computer behavior or having to reload your OS.

Right click on Desktop, Go to Nvidia Control Panel
Go to Adjust Desktop Color Settings
Make sure Digital Vibrance is at 50%

Either uninstall Control Point, or make sure that the display is in NTSC mode.

Disable Autostart of nwiz and Nvidia Hotkey using msconfig
    Disable NVIDIA Display Driver Service

NVIDIA Performance Driver Service can also be disabled if you are not running Autocad or Autodesk products

    Reboot

Right click on Desktop, Go to Nvidia Control Panel
Go to Adjust Desktop Color Settings
Move Slider on Dig Vibrance from 75% to 50%

Either uninstall Control Point, or make sure that the display is in NTSC mode.
