I suspect if this a fact, we will be contacted by Dell to accept the new configuration prior to shipping.

    1. The thing next to the webcam is the LED indicator light to let you know that the camera is on.
    2. The 8GB order of 1600MHz will come with 4 of the 2GB DIMMs.
    3. The Precision ON button requires the software to be installed and configured first. This also requires Microsoft Office, in specific, Outlook, to be installed on the system.

    havoctex,

How do you foresee Dell getting this sorted out, more specifically if a customer ordered 2 4GB DDR3 1600 DIMMs and gets 4 2GB DIMMs?

Thanks havoctex - do you know if the Precision ON software is download-able (haven't seen it on the support site yet)?

Based on reports from people that have received their Alienware/Dell laptops after December 21st, 2009, it appears that Samsung has updated the firmware in their SSDs to implement the Windows 7 TRIM functionality. (This includes the rebranded Samsungs like Corsair, etc.) We knew it was coming, but Samsung wasn't very forthcoming about when.

It also appears that Dell/Alienware are shipping the Samsung PM800 drives as their current SSD of choice. This means 220MB/s sequential read speeds, 200MB/s sequential write speeds, and very low power and heat.
Implementing the TRIM function makes this drive more competitive with other drives on the market.

The SSD is one of the first things I'll check upon receiving my system (still in the build stage).
