Thanks mannyA. Thats what I needed. Explains it well from the little I viewed so far. It looks like this isn't just a "mode" but is really a virtual machine. I wonder how it differs from something like VMware. I'll watch the entire vid when I get home this evening. I ordered the laptop with XP preinstalled but I get a copy of Win7 64 bit with it. I may just install that Win7 right off the bat. Should work. I'll need more memory though

Does someone know the exact weight of "normal" (i.e. "brick) AC adapter and "slim" AC adapter?

I suppose they are the same delivered for M6400 (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4844175&postcount=20).

Slim model looks better but it has very bad reviews on Dell site (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Power/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=330-4128#Overview) so I'm wondering if there is at least a significant weight advantage when compared with the "brick" one.

lol seriously you do not want the brick!!!, i mean seriously when i opened up my m6500 and saw that thing... it was just as big as a regular building brick!!!! got on the phone with dell next day and my slim one is on the way. It is just as heavy as it is big to put in a bag with the laptop itself.

I can hardly believe that a €5000 Dell laptop comes with a poorly designed AC adapter  These components should be the most reliable notebook accessories by now. Hey, they are the most common pieces of equipment used in the notebook market - no special research or design has to be done for a simple AC adaptor!

Thanks for pointing out this one freesailor :) I am really skeptic here whether to order the slip adaptor... I don't want to stay out of work for some days waiting for a replacement.

That sounds incredible to me, too.
I don't want to blindly trust those reviews, I'd like to have more feedback from owners.
I've also made the guess about a bad batch, since all three reviews are dated in summer 2009.

I ordered both the slim and the brick. Slim for the bag... brick for the home.

These are big because they are 240w. That is alot. It's not like my other laptops that "only" required 85w AC adapter and were nice and tiny.

At least it is smaller than the XBOX 360 AC adapter. lol

I also ordered the slimline for the briefcase and the brick for home. I did not realize the E Dock came with a brick and now I have two. I would have bought two slim chargers. The other thing that is really redic is that if you try to use a standard automotive inverter adapter it will blow the fuse in your car everytime. I had to buy in industrial inverter and wire it to the battery like a car amp to use a charger on the go.

I saw a photo of what looked like a sim card under the battery. What is this? It would be great if I didnt have to use the AT&T PCI air card. I didnt see any type of modem as an option with Win 7.

I misssed the post regarding the explanation of Trim and Garabage. Can someone give me the link to an explanation.

Mine just arrived in Nassiville. With overnight shipping I should have it Tuesday. As you can see below the desktop is ready. Can anyone guess whats missing. haha
