Ok, I have the deal figured out now. In case anyone else here is struggling to buy an m6500 from the Outlet, here's the scoop: There is a steady supply of m6500s coming out through the outlet. But they are all being scooped up by bots instantly. I conclude that it is impossible or impractical to buy direct from Dell unless you have the technology to program bots yourself.

No surprise… The people sniping the sales out from under you on the Dell Outlet site are, predictably, marking them up and reselling on ebay. There are plenty of refurb m6500s there for sale, and I recognize many of them as systems that got away from me when I was chasing the Dell site over the last few days!

Just type m6500 in the ebay search box and you'll find them. My take is that we are in a supply glut that won't last. Most people will think the 6600 better than the 6500, and so many late arrival 6500s got sent back and traded up for 6600's. The 30-day window from the May 2 announce date ends June 2. Next week. I predict the supply thru the outlet will taper off quickly thereafter.

...so no interest in my m6500? I'm not an ebay seller, it would be a private purchase. This is why I ask a price, as I need to know if I can buy the desktop I need with the money I would recieve.

Mine in my signature I brought for $1400 + the e-Dock used on NBR. Since you got the 820QM I'd say $1500-$1600 USD.

Wow, that would devalue it to being worth well under 1/2 of what I paid for it a year ago... I didn't think it would lose value so quickly, it's got the rgb anti glare screen and everything, really, that low?

Blame Dell Outlet. They sell these machines with coupons at that much. Therefore, not many people would care to get one over two grand really right now.

    rcruk,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think the numbers Star Forge suggested were actually quite high. I saw systems equally or better equipped than yours show up on the Dell Outlet for ~$1400. You can't buy them because you can't go as fast as the 'bots, but you can see what Dell is putting out.

Search on eBay for an equivalently equipped system to your own and you'll see the prices are $100 - $200 higher than the outlet. Say $1500 - $1600 for a system like yours. And that's brand new (basically - refurbs are usually customer returns that were never used more than a few days) and it comes with a completely valid Dell warranty. To an Internet buyer, you and your system are unknowns, so the price has to be discounted first for wear and tear from your use, then again for the uncertainty factor that goes with buying anything used on the Internet.

I hate to say it, but I wouldn't touch your system unless the price were well below $1,000. Moore's law sucks when you feel it in reverse... :-(

i think a lot of the previous posters are not aware how expensive systems are in the UK. first of all you have 20% vat...... so if you sell it in the uk you'll get a better price, but yea, technology does depreciate really fast

I think those are too low. $1500 is probably the lowest I would go with it. The i7-820QM and the RGBLED still holds in value. Now if you had a WLED and an Arrandale, you will be looking at sub-$1000.

Also being the UK and help boost the sales up a bit but you won't find anyone in the US interested though. For an European sale is more likely.

I'd hope to get something closer to £2k... I paid £2.7k otherwise I can't justify selling. Where would be a good place to sell, like you say e-bay is flooded with us power sellers?
