    Has anyone found a way to keep the keyboard backlight on all the time?

    @tomcom2k:
    Thanks for the explanation!

    That's exactly the TV option I was talking about. I just forgot the name. I have it in two Samsung TVs (models from 2007 and 2009).

    Afair there is a Dell software for Windows that resets the timer and turns the backlight on permanently. Apart from not being able to use this software under Linux I also consider this solution Dell chose to be a pretty ugly hack.
    Alternatively you could use a drinking bird. ;)

    Tried that 8.773 driver and lost Aero/Glass - went back to 8.743 and all is fine...

    One of the dell control point modules enables the control for it. Fn-Right arrow then gives you Auto/On/Off settings.

    Hey guys I'm about to upgrade from Win 7 Pro 64 bit to Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

    Going to do a clean install and I was wondering if there was a particular order I would need to follow while installing all the Dell drivers back?

    Thanks for reading.

    With my problems I've had to do about 15 clean installs, I've tested various install orders, normally chipset and storage controller first worked best then it really didn't matter.

    Good guess, that was the difference. With 8.743 I could enable 10 bit without problems (and without enhancements) but with 8.773 10 bit disables aero. As I don't see improvements with 10 bit I stay with 8.773 and 10 bit disabled.

    Thanks again
